I left her office near tears and will forever refer to her as my "Primary DON'T Care Physician”
I have some mobility issues, I tire easily, and I bring a service dog everywhere with me. I do not feel comfortable serving as a juror. Jury duty entails a long drive, followed by a long walk, followed by a lot of waiting around, and more walking. I knew that this amount of activity, in addition to ensuring that my dog was taken care of, would overwhelm me. The only way to get a medical exemption was to get a letter from a doctor. I called my Primary Care Physician who said she had to examine me before she'd write a letter. So I made an appointment and went in to see her. Before she even looked at me, she told me that she doesn't write letters for people to "get out of" jury duty. She said she could write a letter stating what is wrong with me, but not a recommendation to be excused from jury duty. When I pushed her and asked her what she thought was wrong with me, she said that I had some numbness. True, but the numbness was the LEAST of my problems. I tried again to convince her but to no avail.
