And now we're going to look at how to play it all stems at Delta Blues with a bottleneck and open G. This is a song made famous by Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson under the people. It's an old old song with many, many variations. We're going to look at a way of playing it that is not exactly like Robert Johnson used to play, which was very corrosive, but it's more in line with a modern style, but it still keeps the authentic sound of the Delta Blues. First of all, we're going to tune down on guitar. Pro standard tuning. We're going to change three strings to make open G. First of all, we take the first string, the base e down two frets to D are these electrons tuna will just feel how it makes it cool.

And then we take the second string, the A string down to G two frets. You can feel it. The next three strings and the height goes down again to D as the base. Just test the wall and tweak them. Already it sounds like the Delta For this song, I don't use any finger picks. If you do use finger picks particularly still thick, the combination of the steel picks with the bottleneck can be pretty harsh.

This guitar is strong with medium gauge strings. So the bass strings 56. And the last string is 12. They're quite heavy, but very good for bottleneck playing. We're going to lay the bottleneck I use a glass bottleneck with a thick wall. So it gives it quite a nice resonant sound.

We'll lay it on the strings, and it produces a nice sound. But as you can hear, if we just lay the bottleneck on by itself, it makes a sound. There's not really controlled. We're getting a vibrator from this side of the string and the other side of the strings. For this reason we dump behind the bottleneck with our finger in this way. Another technique is to add a little bit of vibrato for two reasons, first of all, because it sounds nice and also it helps us to find the note.

If you're trying to go straight to the fifth fret, for example, you have to crawl towards it. If you overshoot with your vibrato, you can find it again. practical use as well. Try to keep the finger down behind the bottleneck so that you don't get any scraping sounds. This is quite difficult. You'll find that in the instruction.

There's quite a lot of buzzing because when I play very, very slowly, it's difficult to stop these sounds Most of the tabs it shows the slide using itself. in two places at the end of the verse and the introduction, you don't use this slide, you use your finger. This is not on the tablature. Now the right hand thumb action is very important in all of the blues. In the sliding blues, like walking blues, sometimes the bass notes are down. Sometimes they're not, if not more on this on the temperature because it will become very messy.

So if there is a, an issue, it's not clear from the tablature that I'll repeat the phrase afterwards. In fact, I'll appear quite often after the clicks to explain what's going on in more detail. Now take a listen while I play introduction on one verse of walking blues. Well you know that Now let's take a look at the tuition introduction You see in the first clip that I'm moving up to the 12th fret using a little bit of vibrato and I'm also hitting the fifth string with my thumb on the 12th fret, but I'm damping this The end of this section this clip, I slapped the strings. Sometimes I do this not often because if you do it too much it becomes less of an effect. But now again it helps to pass through to the next sequence and it provides a nice effect.

It sounds like this. Let's put those last two clips together to see Matches These last two clips will play a vibrato on the seventh fret with our thumb. And then the second time we played we let it decay down to the sixth fret, it sounds like this. Place slow it sounds quite strange. I'll put these two sectors together. You can see where the decay happens.

This is the only clip in the introduction and the same in the verse where we don't use a slide, we just use a finger on the third fret on the fourth string is tabulator like this. You can play around with this and play the different way for example like this. vary it any way you want. That's a secret of the blues to keep varying what you do, and changing it to provide variety and make it interesting for people to listen. Again In this clip, we just use our finger and no slide for the last part of it was the same idea that we left at the end of the introduction. We do this four times.

And we sing at the same time. We look at the words later on in the intuition. When we use the slider they move to the fifth fret, accentuate that sound put a lot of vibrato on there. Before we finish the tuition for walking blues, let's take a closer look at how the words and the singing fits in with the guitar playing. It's always a problem it seems as though in from Robert Johnson's old recordings, his voice, the timing and his guitar Tommy was sometimes completely different, which, which is almost impossible to do. So we need to take advantage of certain lapses in the music and the guitar notes and sing in between them or at the same time, we need to maintain some kind of relationship between the two.

We come out to the introduction in this way. Then we go welcome small feel around you. So if we let the words coincide with this, this room is quite easy. Woke up this morning around you we move to the fifth fret. We have some vibration there put some vibrato so we sing without using the right woke up the small feet around you know that that be Same thing vibrato on the seventh fret, we don't use the right hand. So we take advantage of this and we use this space to sing.

You know that that beat I had them all don't buy I hope that helps. Have a lot of fun. Take care. Goodbye.
