Welcome back. You're doing a fantastic job. I am amazed we have learned so much and you have come so far in this course I'm so proud of you. Let's jump into the next tip. It's number 53. The wise leader understands that careful and honest, very open reflection will solve most problems.

I told you a little bit about this before I hinted towards it, a man and alone alone in a room by himself can solve most problems. What does that mean? It means if you take quiet moments of reflection, the answer will bubble to the top. You simply need to hold something in your mind. Now what I didn't describe is why that actually works. This is your bonus tip.

You are actually hardwired to solve things this way. You have a structure a physical structure in your brain. It's called your reticular activator. You can google it if you want. And what it is, is it's a small shrimp shaped object, and it's embedded up in between the folds in your brain on the bottom, pushed up in between the fold. Yeah, your brain is in two sections.

And what it does is, it's your deletion key. So it decides what you pay attention to. And conversely, what you delete what you don't pay attention to. That way you can focus. So the things that you hold in your mind as being important, you say, hey, I want to solve this problem. I want to solve this problem.

I want to solve this problem, just hold the problem in your mind, desire a solution. And if you do that long enough, it will trigger the reticular activator. The reticular activator will go through your conscious mind and even into your unconscious mind in try to float an answer to the top for you. If Can't, it will continue working unconsciously in the background because an automated system works automatically. And it will continue to try to come up with that solution to try to force it out of the unconscious because that's where it's usually hidden, and bring it to the surface somehow, as an intuition as a gut feeling, or just an idea that pops into your head out of the blue. The other way that it works, too, is the reticular.

Activating Remember, it determines what you're going to focus on. So it will scan the environment and try to find things in the environment as you're going through day by day that could be related to your problem and provide you with a solution. I'll prove to you that your brain does this all the time. So you go out and you buy a new red Mazda sports car. All of a sudden as you're driving along, you're going to be amazed that a how many sports cars are out there, how many of them are monsters and how many of them are red. Why you suddenly noticing all these red sports cars in great abundance, because you're so excited about your car, the emotion, the passion really ingrained that you were focused on it that trigger direct ticular activator.

So now it scans the environment. And wherever it sees something that you're focusing on these red sports cars, it immediately draws your attention to it. All sudden, you think there's 10 times as many red sports cars as you ever thought before. Or say you're going to open up your own business or within your job, you need to get financing. So in either situation, you're looking for financing. All of a sudden, you're going to notice how many TV commercials there are for financing, how many magazine ads, how many radio ads, billboards, you drive by how many conversations that you're in on are over here that have to do with finance that are suddenly coming into your awareness.

Why is it these things were out there every single day and you went by him for years without ever noticing him. It's because you triggered your reticular activator. And your activator is saying, hey, look over here, listen over here, pay attention over here. And suddenly these things come into your awareness. So this is one of the reasons why if you focus on a problem for a while, and then let it go, you can come up with the answer very quickly, right there on the spot, or shortly thereafter, the answer will seem to almost magically appear. A lot of people think this is mysticism.

It isn't. It's your particular activator. Now you know that you have new understanding, you have new wisdom, an entirely new strategy to utilize your reticular activator. I'm going to give you another bonus technique that you can use. One of the main functions of the human brain is to ask and answer questions. primary question you're always asking is what does this mean and what do I need?

Do about it. So you can actually ask yourself certain questions that will focus your mind, all parts of your mind, including your reticular activator, and almost force a solution. If you said, hey, we've got too many people that are leaving the company, you can do something we call them therapy, sentence stem completion. What I do is I say part of the sentence and then you finish the second half. So you start out a sentence stem, like what are three things that I could do that would increase employee retention in the next month and then you fill in the blank. What's Thing number one, Thing number two, Thing number three, or even simpler one.

I could increase employee retention by and then finish the sentence. You can do this with anything. One thing I could do today to lower my weight is finished. sentence. One thing I could do to boost profits this month is finish the sentence. One way I could have a better relationship with my wife or husband is finish the sentence.

You can use this in any area of your life by asking questions, and then assuming there's an answer, your brain will scan through everything that has ever known ever seen, and try to come up with those sentence stem completions. As long as you do it, as long as you believe in it, as long as you know, an answer will come. Sometimes even an answer won't come but you give it a little while that reticular activator will work and you will see something or hear something something will get drawn to your attention that will answer it later. But normally, most people even though they say I can't think of any way that I can increase employee retention or you just keep coming up with the five, same five solutions over and over again, by using this sentence, then completion. It will trigger your brain in a different way than you normally do and therefore you'll Get more answers, you're actually releasing information by using this system.

Because it's a brand new way of looking at things. When you look at things different, you see them different and you come up with different solutions. Your brain works like that. Believe me, it's a science. This one is very important. The wise leader understands the impact of ego on self, and others.

Let me define what ego is. Ego is a false sense of yourself that you defend. Everybody has a persona. persona comes from the Latin word, literally meaning theater mask, your ego, your persona are the same thing. It's a social mask that you wear, and you don't even have one of them. You have multiple masks that you wear.

You act one way when you're in front of your boss. You act one way when you're in front of your employees, and yet Another way, when you're with your co workers, and you act another way, when you're with your wife or your husband, and another way when you're with your child, another way when you're with your parents, and another way, when you're with your friends, you're even different when you're alone in a room by yourself. We have multiple masks, it's okay, everybody has this doesn't mean you're being fake or phony. A mask, or an ego is something that you present to society. So you can present yourself in the best light for that situation. It's very adaptive, it's very functional.

And it helps everybody to understand the simplest version of you. Task specific. So it's actually a very functional thing that you do. Now, where people sometimes get lost, is they start to think that these egos these personas, these false selves are actually them and they start defending them. Like when I say, oh, you're wrong in this area? Well, you've got a persona that doesn't like to be wrong.

It's very egotistical. Hear the Word egotistical from the word ego or false self. That ego is deeply offended by you saying I'm wrong. If there was no persona, there was no ego there. You would say, Hmm, I might be wrong. Go ahead and tell me more.

I want to make sure I'm right. Obviously, I don't want to do things wrong over and over again. Tell me more. Because the ego and their persona got over the way you can hear the information. If that ego or persona is in the way, you will never hear that information, no matter how logical it is, no matter how true it is why, again, we believe in our false self, we think if you're attacking this false self, you're attacking me, and it's literally a fight to the death for who I am. To survive.

I have to defend this So that fact that argument, whatever you're coming up with, will never equal what I consider my own survival. Your survival mechanism is the strongest mechanism you have. It's your strongest instinct, you will do anything to survive. It is almost impossible to get a human being to overcome their survival instinct. It's the strongest instinct you have. If you can understand how your ego gets in your way, you can understand how it gets in other people's ways.

If you can understand how you can see where your ego is getting in your way, now you have insight. And you'll also have insight into how you can show other people that their egos getting in the way as you learn how to get past your ego and taking the information, taking the new idea, the new belief the new way. You will learn systems for how to get other people To see the new idea, get past the ego, do it the new way. Again, that's why I'm saying we're really at a new phase here. You need to understand these things. And understanding yourself first leads to understanding others.

That's why that's one of the first tips in this advanced section that I shared with you because everything flows from that. Always experiment on yourself. Understand how to get past this yourself, then you'll understand how to help others get past it. That's it for this section. You're doing fantastic. I've given you an awful lot to think about here.
