Hey, welcome back, everybody and Congratulations, you've made it to the intermediate section. Now we're going to go over the intermediate skills of a powerful and effective leader. You are doing fantastic. I'm so proud of you. Let's jump right in. You're one of the great winters, you are going to learn some more advanced skills here.

Now, the Wise leader thinks long term, not short term. This is sometimes thought of as the Japanese philosophy but it was actually taught to them by an American philosopher. Named of Deming, they actually have a Deming award. He taught him to think long term instead of short term. He was one of ours and we chose not to listen to him. Japanese took him in, embrace them love this philosophy.

And they created the Japanese expansion, literally an explosion of how valuable they were. They actually He made so much money doing this is a little teeny tiny country, that they actually bought up huge amounts of America, our land, our businesses, our corporations. They thought this was how the Japanese were going to refight the war in win by simply just buying us out. There. In fact, I heard a philosopher once say, you can't defeat America with military might, but you can beat them financially and just buy them out. So, long term thinking is always going to be short term thinking.

Now, having said that, paradoxically, you need to do both. So you need to plan for the day for the week, for the month for the year for the three year, the five year the 10 year, the 20 year the third year, the Japanese will consider a short term plan, anything under 10 years. A micro plan is five years and a teeny tiny plan is if this was going to happen tomorrow would be a one year plan. They just have a different perspective on it. They know that things take time to grow, in that if you set a cause in motion, you start doing something and you simply repeat it over time, it's successful, and you expand it, it's going to expand and typically accelerate over time. Great way to live, great philosophy.

So the wise leader is always thinking, what can I do today? That's going to make a huge difference a year from now, five years from now 10 years from now and beyond. Maybe after I'm long gone, what could I set in motion? What could I create as a system, literally a corporate habit, a way of being that will last for years and create profits year after year after year. Now, again, this could be benefits in a lot of different areas could benefit you over that time period, your staff over that time period, the company over that time period, what do I I want to say, come up with a really good plan that will help all three, those are always the best plans. Now chunk it down, if you're gonna have a 10 year plan, what do you need to have done by year five?

What do you need to do in the next year? What do you need to do in the next month? What do you need to do in the next week? What do you need to accomplish on a daily basis to make this happen? So always chunk down these plans. And then always use what we've been talking about throughout this training, the theory of constant never ending improvement, always taking everything you do and making it obsolete.

So one of the things that the Japanese would also do, again, we trade them in this is to go ahead and constantly look at your plan. See what you've learned in the last few weeks, months or years? How can you use it to make your original plan even better, and to adapt for things that were unforeseen, that have just changed in the environment? These can help you dodge problems and take full advantage of opportunities. This is how a good leader thinks. A manager just tries to get things done.

They only look at things on a daily basis. They don't look out ahead, and they just try to do their business and get out. A leader is the one that takes people long term. They don't want to be in business for a couple of years. They want to be in business for a lifetime for several lifetimes to build something that they can be proud of. Now, after all this hard work, I want you to know that the wise leader also takes time to rejuvenate themselves.

They take time for rest and time for reflection. This is important for a couple of reasons. I remember a great great old quote. It says even the strongest of metals will were with us think this way, even the strongest battery will drink with us. So how do you keep that battery strong? You would, of course, recharge it.

So as a human being you need to periodically recharge yourself. Why? Because you want to be at your strongest each day, you want to be fresh each day. You don't want to be burnt out each day. You want to have good energy, good passion. You need enough passion of energy, not only for yourself, but to literally drive your whole team to help drive your business to help drive your goals.

That takes some quiet time of rejuvenation, some rest, some relaxation. What's also going to happen is your subconscious mind when you relax it when you give it a break when you let it stop thinking about business for a little bit. When you let just relax and release, things will float to the top and you'll get great new ideas. Einstein used to literally think about something think about something think think think think Take a break, take a nap. And usually when he woke up, or when he was going for his daily walk, when he wasn't thinking about the problem, boom, the answer would rise to the top and he would have a revolution. You can do this in your business.

So rest, rejuvenation, reflection. All very important. A lot of people, they're so hard charging, they think, Oh, I can't rest. I got it. I got to work harder than the other guy. No, you have to work smarter than the other guy.

You will never win by working harder. Unless you're working against another idiot who thinks hard work is the way that you get ahead. Now, you should work smart and hard. So don't get me wrong. But smart is the thing that multiplies your efforts beyond what your efforts could ever gain you. If I come up with one great idea for my business.

I can make four times as much money, but I work at least 40 hours a week. Well, there's only 112 hours in the week, so I can't possibly You know, work four times harder, that'd be 160 hours, I would have to work 24 seven around the clock. And then about half again that much time that doesn't even exist. It's not humanly possible. So do work hard, but also work smart part of working smart is taking time off and taking time to think. The wise leader keeps things simple and focused.

There's a quote down below this, make sure you put this in your notes. This is actually a sales quote. I kind of adjusted it for my purposes. The sales quote is a confused mind doesn't buy. Well for management for leadership, a confused mind doesn't act. When people don't know what to do, they're gonna do the safe thing, which for them is nothing until you have certainty.

They won't act when they're fearful. They won't act confusion and fear go together, they're not going to act, they're going to stop what they're doing. They're too confused. They don't know what to do. So they do nothing. That's why the wise leader keeps things simple and focused.

Do this, then do this, then do this. Simple. They take the complex ideas, like we talked about earlier. Remember this learning is building upon previous learning. They take things that are complex, they reduce it to the simple, chunk it down to steps, make it into a daily plan, weekly plan, monthly plan, yearly plan, multi year plan, like we just talked about it make it very simple and easy to follow. They're also focused, they focus on the most important things first, second, most important thing, second, third most important things and they don't look left or right, when they're doing a task.

They're completely focused on that one task. They're not thinking about 12 other things, they go the next task and then the intense Focus on that. That's the way to get ahead. So do these things and teach your staff these things and you too, will be a great leader.
