We start the lower back relief routine in the neutral position and between every exercise we return to it again. Finally, we also end the routine with a neutral position.
Here is a picture of what the neutral position looks like:
In the neutral position, the stick rests in front of you. Your legs are straight but the knees are "soft". What that means is that they are not locked tight, but rather ever so slightly bent. The shoulder is dropped and not pulled upwards. You look straight ahead. (Note: in this picture, my head position is not in the ideal "Neutral Position" because I am looking down) In the neutral position, you should look straight ahead and that will give you the correct head position. The correct position is where the head sits balanced on top of the neck and the spine.
