Hello, and welcome to How to cultivate gratitude daily, the practices of gratitude. Now this section is fairly long. So bear with me if I read off my script a little bit below the camera, I try not to do that quite as obviously. But in this case, there's a lot of detail here. And so, basically, there are several ways to consciously practice gratitude for a few minutes each day. And I encourage you to experiment with these as you see fit.
But it requires a commitment of a commitment of a few minutes a day, but a consistent commitment. Gratitude as a daily practice retrains the mind so that gratitude becomes an automatic response daily, and it increases the quality of one's life and level of joy. The mind can be rewired for gratitude, as I stated earlier, and over time, even if you're conditioned to think about the downside of things like I have in some cases, but I believe it's never too late to change. One's mindset or one's life. So many people think that once they're conditioned negatively, they can't change. But that's not necessarily true.
And so there are a lot of benefits of gratitude. And I keep going over these because I can't express enough. If you do the work, if you do the practices, it will really heal your life. And so when I practice these consistently, I have found that a lot of my depression and a lot of issues seem to go away on their own. And when I quit doing it, they kind of come back in and so when I go back to practicing gratitude and other practices that helped my health, it really lessens those a lot. And so even if you're like me, and you have some of those issues, yes, you can improve your life.
Yes, you can increase your abundance and yes, you can change your perspective and see the actual outcomes in your life improve. And so gratitude improves relationships, one's mental and physical well being and one's chances of creating success in various endeavors. Some options for making gratitude a daily basis. practice and thus making it more naturally flow throughout your day in life include keeping a gratitude journal. And like I said, there are a lot of others too. So let's get started.
The first one is the gratitude journal. And so gratitude journals can be written daily as the heart leads, or both. I encourage some kind of regular practice, whether it's a few times a week, or the quick win where you kept a record of the things that go well, maybe you do that at the end of the day instead. But it's probably a good idea to get into a regular practice to do this exercise and it's probably one you're familiar with. Probably the most famous one when it comes to practicing gratitude. And so the journal journal has infinite possibilities.
It can be a place to record observations and insights regarding what one is grateful for at the end of the day, and gratitude itself. It can be written freestyle, it can be seen as a place to make lists of what one is grateful for each day. It can be both and it can also be a place to play with the idea of gratitude. splore it and brainstorm it and pictures, storyboards, idea maps, outlines, and like stated before lists and stream of conscious writing. And so the first one is the gratitude journal, you'll see how to do that in the corresponding PDF document. And so the second form of gratitude, a stream of conscious writing a stream of conscious writing, a stream of conscious is just writing whatever comes to your mind, almost like a current going through your arm into your hand and you write what comes to your mind.
And it might be recalling or reflecting on one specific event that was distinctive and resonated with you, or whatever. So it could be something that was a challenge and the rider is reflecting on the blessings that came out of the difficulty. Or it could be a wonderful event that happened that was spontaneous or expected that brought wonderful blessings into your life reflecting on the experience and all of its positive qualities or it could be an experience That might be a mixture of difficulty and blessing. both at the same time, regardless stream of conscious is a good way to get lots of thoughts out freestyle in a short period of time as a way of reminding the writer of what one has to be grateful for, and thus cultivating a consciousness of gratitude. I found it to be very effective for me because my mind tends to be very gushy, I guess you could say and chaotic, in a lot of stuff can come out of it at once.
And so if you work that way, for whatever reason, it seems to have a very powerful effect on how I feel. And on my mind, I feel a lot better after I do that, kind of like if you've ever sort of ranted in a journal and you get that negative emotion out sometimes you feel relieved afterwards. Sometimes you feel worse. But hopefully you feel relieved most of the time. And that's what this does. it loosens the mind and allows unconscious thoughts to come forth, which is a free right process.
And it can also deepen your understanding of a situation because unconscious insights will come from to the surface. And so it can also help you clear out negative thoughts as well as understand your attitude better. Number three, listing listing is another form that people use in a gratitude journal. And it could be a daily practice for which one makes a list of specific things, maybe a specific amount, like I'm going to write three 510 50 things I'm grateful for each day. And that's a form that's more traditional, like I said, in a gratitude journal. And this also might be a short stream of conscious blurb, elaborating or reflecting on the thing, person, place, concept, experience or event.
But keeping this kind of gratitude journal might be useful, as long as you avoid the pitfalls of mechanically putting the same thing every day. That's not to say you can't repeat things, but just be careful to avoid that pitfall. And try to think creatively not taking the time to reflecting on the significance of the situation is another pitfall. And so maybe a little blurb about each one could be a good way to make it a little more of a significant experience. Even just listing though can be very good because it's you're putting positive things out into the universe and into your mind. And so when one makes a list, it's a good to get creative and try to put something different on the list each day.
Of course, there's a place for praising and thanking God ongoingly for specific blessings in your life. But gratitude journal is a place to keep one's praise fresh and attitude genuine and new. Whatever practices you follow in your beliefs, and so that is the use of lists finding something new to be grateful for each day when life gets so daily acknowledging the unique blessings that come to you daily, however repetitive the routine may not be in it also helps you to change it up and make it more fresh.
