Hello, and welcome to lecture five. In lecture three, we discuss the experiencial proof that gratitude works. And we had also discussed the scientific proof that gratitude works because I wanted you to see the proof right out the gate, so you can see how you reap the benefits of gratitude. And in the last one, I included the slideshow, and the PDF of the proof in terms of the studies and the bibliography, so you can look for that information yourself. In this lecture. In lecture five, we're going to do a quick win exercise.

And a quick win exercise will be included in most of the lectures because I want you to be able to put into practice right away different types of gratitude exercises so you can see how this can work in your own life and you have proof not only scientifically not only based on other people's experience, but based on your own experience as well. And you can also get your feet wet and start using the exercises And so for this exercise, it's an experiment in cultivating gratitude. And this exercise will give you a taste of the nine practices of gratitude. And actually, there's 11 practices now, but the experiment is simple. And it involves keeping a journal notebook piece of paper or a napkin or a computer program is something to ride on a tablet or something like that, whether it's a computer tablet, or a paper tablet, that's fine.

But this experiment is loosely derived from fish and loaves, which is an experiment that's done in a book called e squared. And e squared is a book that basically is an experiment in different law of attraction practices, so that you can get proof for yourself and test. If this stuff works. It's a highly rated book, and I encourage you to check it out. It's called e squared. And so basically, this experiment, I adapted from that exercise and other people have used it too.

And so basically, if you haven't had had a chance to read the book, check it out, like I said, but if you've practiced or studied Christianity or other forms and practices of different types of faiths, or exercises in lifestyle choices, basically, you know the story of Jesus. And when he was feeding the multitude, basically, he provided food for a multitude with only five loaves of bread into fishes. And this little boy had what he had to offer. And so he was generous, and Jesus in His fate was able to multiply that and so it's metaphorical, of what you can do in your own life to attract abundance. And one of our sections is about attracting abundance. And that's also the one where we talk about the actual practices of gratitude and how to put those into practice.

While there is a metaphor in that the same principle applies here. So for this experiment, you will operate on the same principle. You have probably heard the saying what we focus on multiplies and you probably know that that's true. And so it is with grass. attitude. If we focus on what is good in our lives, the kindness of others, um, little mercies throughout the day and things like that, instead of the injustices, annoyances and chaos that occurs throughout the day, you will find yourself experiencing more positive things.

Because you'll notice those more video will actually also attract more of those to you. And so in this practice, I want you for two days to keep a journal, a notebook or a tablet near you and keep a record of anything good. It can be small, tiny little things, or it can be huge, monumental things. Most of the time, it'll be small things and things in between. But I want you to record all of the things of note that are good that happened throughout the day, anything that is merciful, any kind of kindness, any beauty, any joy, and any fun that you experienced throughout the day, because those are all things that you can be grateful for. And in future lectures, we'll actually talk about gratitude.

And in spite of and even through difficulties, but I want you to focus right now on the positive. And I want you to try that for two days. Here are some examples that might help you to think about what kinds of things in your own life you might begin to notice. It also is an exercise in beginning to get your consciousness to pick up on those things and condition yourself to find those things so that when you do these other practices, you do them very effectively. The sunrise was beautiful this morning, a mixture of reds, oranges and blues. My wife made my favorite breakfast this morning toast and eggs even though I didn't expect it.

My husband texted me just to say he loves me. I had a great lunch with my coworker Jeannie, when I asked for an extension on the project. My boss was understanding and gave me two more days than I asked for. The main in the coffee shop had a very warm smile. There was a bird singing all afternoon outside my office window, and I made the 3% more profits this month than I thought I would. And so those are just some examples that you might have.

Write down for your Gratitude Experiment here. And so hopefully by the end of the day, you'll have 20 or 30 or more of those that you can refer to tiny little things in medium things and maybe even some big things. But the focus here is choosing to count your blessings and the fact that that will expand your perspective of those blessings and multiply them into your life. And this isn't just a Pollyanna woowoo experiment, but a real practice that can change your life. The result if you change what you focus on the things you focus on change, in other words, what you focus on, if you focus on the good, the good in your life will show up in synchronous and unexpected ways. And this practice can radically change your life even though it's simple, sometimes the simplest things are the most profound.

In the next section, we will explore the nature of gratitude and how it works, how it can work for you and how gratitude can change your perspective because changing your perspective is the first step when You change your perspective, you start to attract more abundance into your life. And then when you attract more abundance into your life, your relationships and the actual outcomes of your life based on those benefits that we've talked about already will begin to show up. And so in the next section, we'll be working on that. So I will see you in the next section.
