Hello, this is Rob from Rob coven.com. We're improving this image and stylizing this image. So far, we've just done a bit of cloning a bit of cleaning up. But now we're going to apply softening blurring layer and use it with a layer blending mode to really make the image look amazing. So we're going to copy that layer Command or Ctrl J, and we're going to go Filter, Blur Surface Blur. And as you can see what this filter does is smooth out the colors completely.
And you can play around with the radius and the threshold to lessen the effect. In this window here, when you click on it, you can see the area of the image before the filter is applied. And when you release the mouse click he says After the blur is applied, of course, we've got the preview checked here. So we're seeing the finished article in the main image window. So we're happy with that now, and we're going to click OK. And they're on the layer palettes. I'll say that this is the Surface Blur layer.
And this is the layer we just made a few corrections on. So with the Surface Blur selected, and the Move Tool selected, we are going to use now shift plus or minus to scroll through the layer blend modes. We've done this in other lessons. And this is a quick way of noticing what works and what doesn't. So you get some real stylized effects that you may or may not want to use. You also get some effects that you definitely don't want to use, but it's a good quick way of working out which layer blend mode you like.
So that's For example is Color Burn. And another good one is screen. And another thing we can do is cut the Opacity down of a layer the screen on 36% if we go back to Linear Burn on 36%. So what this does is gives you the softening of the blurred layer but allowing some of the original layer to shine through from the bottom as the Opacity is 50. So it's 50% visible. So there we have it.
That's how to smooth the skin and add a stylistic effect to the image. But we're going to go still further in the next video and really make the teeth and lips and eyes stand out. So I hope you enjoyed that. It's Rob Rob cabin.com. I'll see you in the next video.
