Hello and welcome to the course how to cover a hole with a thermal bonding patch. So if you don't already have one you can buy a thermal bonding patch in a sewing store are becoming using a very strong and sticky patch however, make sure you use the patch on his dirty clothes made of thick fabrics like pants or a jean coat. So do not use this method on nylon clothes like a raincoat or windbreaker as the fabric might melt. So you could first try to see how your fabric reacts to heat by testing on a small part on the inside of the garment. If the fabric is thin and light like a T shirt or blouse, you might want to check the how to fix a hole and how to fix the tear videos. So both are available in the hand stitch series.
Alright, first make sure that your iron is on and at the right temperature for the fabric textiles like cotton can withstand very high temperatures but synthetic ones like polyester tend. So make sure the irons temperature is the right one. Also make sure that the color intent of your patch match that of your fabric. If the hole you're going to fix is smaller than the patch you can cut it smaller. Always make sure however that the size of the patch have about one centimeter more than the size of the hole. Now put the patch inside the garment on the back of the fabric and make sure that it completely covers the whole take extra care to not put the sticky part on the iron side.
Try to shrink them the fabric around the hole so as not to create hard folds. If left under the patch, it would be impossible to undo them. Now take the iron in your good hand and use the other one to make sure that the patch and the fabric both states Right where you need them take extra care not to burn yourself. Once everything is where it should be, press the iron on the patch using the pointy end if needed for smaller areas. So keep it there for about 10 seconds. Remove the iron and make sure that the patch is glued on properly.
Again Take care not to burn yourself. So my advice is to iron the patch one more time to ensure it will stay in place. Don't forget to turn your iron off once you're done. My final advice is to make a small hand stitch all around the patch to prevent it from falling off in the washing machine or while moving. I strongly recommend that you do that if the patch is placed on an area that's always moving, like the elbow or the crotch. So first you have to cut about 40 to 80 centimeters long of the thread of your choice.
Depending on the size of the patch, then you can put the thread through the eye of the needle. This might be difficult at first, but you'll improve with time there is no magic way of doing this, you can only make sure that the thread is cut neatly. If you really can get the thread through, try a needle with a bigger eye. So here we go. Once you get the thread through the needle, make sure the needle goes right in the middle of it and that the two ends of the thread are touching. You will always want to use double thread if you want your work to be sturdy.
However, for more delicate work like a blind stitch on a Pentium for example, you will want to use a simple thread. In the case of a button though we want something sturdy so double thread it is never forget that you don't have to wait two hours trying to make a knot at the end of your thread. Nope, utterly useless. Only makes you lose time and energy. Instead, you can stick the needle on the inside of the garment directly on the patch and leave about a centimeter up thread out of the fabric. Then threaded back and forth through the material a few times until you've created a strong knot.
Once you feel that you're not strong enough, stick the needle through the garment by having it get out to words you at about five millimeters distance. You'll need nimble fingers to make a really strange theme, but you'll quickly get it so repeat all around the patch. When you're done, stick the needle back through a single point two or three times to create a picture not and you can now cut out the exceeding threads Congratulations, you just fixed the hole with a patch.
