Welcome back to 20 in 20 days, today, we are going to learn jazz locks. Jazz are so much fun, they're super sassy. And if you could really just enjoy the moment, you're gonna love them. So I'm going to actually show them to you first and then we'll break down exactly how to do them. So I'm going to face you, I'm going to go to the right, and like I said, I'm going to show you first and then we'll kind of give you more direction of how to do them. So it goes like this.

Yeah, or to the left. Alright, so as you can see your hips get to get involved, which is fun. And, and so the step itself is not super challenging. What takes some getting used to I think, is the ability to sort of allow yourself to be bouncy in the step itself, because we're not usually used to Walking like that. And then the other thing, of course, is making sure that you're actually letting your your hips go with you because it'll feel a lot more comfortable and left like, just different awkward. So, starting from over here, what I'm doing is I'm stepping out I am using my first search meaning I'm using my play, but also I am up trying to balance on my half points so it goes out first.

So as you can see, I'm letting my hip go right here. It's gonna go with me to the right, and then I'm crossing my left foot in front here. So my feet are still my, my heels are up, but my legs are still bent, and it's awkward to hold it like this and hard. But when you're walking, yeah, the momentum is not so bad. So from there, I'm just going to release that front foot or sorry, that back foot out to my right leg goes out again, my left foot is gonna cross in front. So that's just the pattern.

It's one thing, it's out and then you're always going across in front. Okay, so Out cross in front. Okay, so let's do that actually, let me face this way, we'll go and do it a couple times to the right. So we step out we go 123456. Now, if you'll notice, the more sort of tree and stylistic you want to get with this. And so what's fun about it is that you can start incorporating what you already know, which is your drags.

And so you have almost a moment of like, just measurement of a drag before you cross that, but that's kind of fun. So let's try to the left. They're gonna start by facing you. I'm gonna walk out to the left I go. laughs a there's a little bit of a drag and then cross, left, cross, left cross. You can swing your arms you can do whatever you want with them.

Okay, heading back this way. Left, cross, left, cross, left, cross. Yeah, good. Okay, so one thing I really want to talk about now, because these are some of the common things I see that will make it feel super awkward for you, and honestly will make it look a little more awkward to. So something that I see a lot is people trying to walk very stiffly and straight up, and this is what it ends up looking like. Right?

It doesn't feel very good, it doesn't look great, you know, you know, it kind of looks uncomfortable. Or the other thing that I'll say sometimes is too much about where you where it ends up looking like that. Right. So we want to think of keeping our head level the entire time. So I don't want this sensation of bobbing. I want this sensation of, I'm in my play.

I'm relaxed, and my head stays even the whole time if I can try to do that. So again, we'll go to the right so 123 For So do you see how my headspace pretty even the whole time because my play on both legs phase even and that's what you want to see. So let's do it again we'll go right left right left here we go to the right first we go 123456 Now we go to the left 123456 again to the right, right cross, right cross front, right, say, left, left, cross, left, cross, left, stay. Good. Awesome. All right.

So those are your jazz walks. And you can do some variations on these as well. And sometimes we'll do craft sort of jazz walks were here walking, maybe in France, so you're going to actually cross when you do these, you actually Do have a little bit of a moment of your heel kind of coming down, but you're letting your hips twist with you. Right? So I think about it, think about it in terms of a very exaggerated model walk. It's your hips are coming with you, right?

So I'm allowing my lower body to twist and my heels, a little bit of an up and down motion. Not a lot, because again, I don't want to have that bobbing sensation. But they do allow me to soften a little. Alright, so those are your jazz walks. Good work today. Tomorrow, we'll expand even further do something even a little bit more quick and good job on mastering it so far.

I'm excited to see you tomorrow.
