Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a guide to safeguarding procedures. And if you're part of an organization that provides services to young people or vulnerable adults, then you need to have safeguarding procedures in place. And this course is a guide to the procedures that you might need. It was initially developed for medical practices in the UK. So some of the issues may not be relevant to you. But essentially, I think that the main points covered, the main procedures that you need will be covered in this course.

And I hope that it's helpful. Okay. So as an introduction, the course provides a guide to safeguarding procedures that medical practices and other services providers need to have in place to guard against abuse. So this includes doctor surgeries, schools, nurseries, clubs, charities, any organism One that works with people that might be vulnerable to abuse. This is not a course about the clinical detection or escalation of safeguarding concerns. It's simply about the administrative procedures that you should have in place to protect vulnerable people against abuse.

The focus of the course is the United Kingdom. But I believe that the principles covered and the procedures presented should apply anywhere and in any jurisdiction. Our agenda for this course is as follows. What is safeguarding definition? Who is covered by safeguarding the responsibilities of service providers, key decisions for service providers, and then we look at documents relating to safeguarding how we might register new service users indentification of safeguarding concerns the proactive analysis of safety issues, collaborative review of safeguarding, and then finally audit of effectiveness for the organization.
