So if you want to change something, you have to change what you're doing. And so now we're going to look at how to train the brain. Because we need to be able to control our thoughts. We need to be able to redirect our thoughts when they're going off in the wrong direction. And we need to know what to do to direct our thoughts exactly where we want them to be. A subconscious mind is a huge store of information, everything that we've ever read, and seen and watched or listened to remembers.
And yet we only have access to a small part of it at any one time. But the subconscious mind likes to be busy. So if you don't exercise it, it often runs around in circles. It doesn't like to be bored, and we have to learn how to give it something to do how it can be useful to us, and how it can help us improve our life and our health. How often does your brain start thinking about things that you don't really want to think about? How often do you hear that inner voice?
Why don't you say that? What will they think of you? Will they like you? Have you made a fool of yourself? All of those things are not helpful for you. And they're not helpful for anybody else.
So we need to learn how we can redirect those thoughts. So the first thing we're going to learn is how to set your brain a task. You know what it's like when you can't remember words and then it comes to you when you're just completely doing something else. You've stopped thinking about it. Well, this is your subconscious mind bringing the information to your brain. So you can use this to solve your problems, you can ask the brain to tell you the best solution to your problem when you wake up in the morning.
And then you can relax and leave it to your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is very quick. As I said, it remembers everything that you've heard, seen, read, watched, all of that information is stored there. But often you don't have direct access to it. But if you learn to ask your subconscious mind, it can bring the information to the forefront, which you can use to solve problems when you ask it to do so. So let's have a look at this.
First of all, we need to acknowledge that your brain has wandered off and has is thinking about things that you haven't asked it to think about. So I often say let's start just talking to Brian about this. So, okay, Brian, I see you've wandered off again. Now come back and think about what I'm going to create for supper tonight. What is the best thing that I could possibly do? Okay, Brian, I see you've run away again.
Come back and look at this wonderful cloud in the sky. So our exercise is to ask the subconscious mind to solve a problem. And you need to set a time scale. So by the time I sit down for coffee, please tell me what that word is. By the time I wake up, subconscious mind, I want you to tell me what the best present. I should buy my son for Christmas.
By the time I've driven home, please tell me what film I should watch tonight. So all we're doing is given subconscious mind something to do. Whilst we can go about doing something else, and in bed at night, we can acknowledge that the brain has gone off and is thinking about something that we didn't ask it to think about. Okay, brain, don't think about that. Now, let's think about this. Let's do some exercises, or let's do something useful that's useful for me.
Or even, okay, Brian, please solve this problem for me. Then we don't you don't have to think about it, because you've set your subconscious mind to do the work for you. Here's another one minute exercise for you. And this just helps bring your mind back into the present. Stop, look, and listen. Notice everything about This moment.
Feel your breath as you inhale. Feel your breath. As you exhale. Feel the muscles on your face. Feel your lungs, inhaling and exhaling. Feel your muscles and your shoulders.
Feel how you can relax every muscle in your body. Stop, Look, listen. Now for this exercise, you need to do it for a minute 10 times a day. Practice makes perfect. And you'll soon be able to do it in your sleep, or at least when you're trying to sleep. And this is a lovely quote.
When we fail our thoughts with the right things, the wrong ones don't have room to enter. So use your inner voice to your right and because it's your brain after all
