Welcome to the section on juicing for health. Juicing has had a profound effect on mine and my family's health and obviously the clients that we work with. So we just wanted to share with you some of the secrets of juicing and what it can do for you in this section. Firstly, we're going to cover the acid and alkaline balance. Now juices bearing alkalize into the body, especially if you've got a green juice or a juice with laminated also, but a juice in general is going to be alkalizing to the body. Our bodies have now become very acidic.
In general, because of the types of diets we're eating processed foods, processed salt, alcohol, prescription drugs, drugs, these are all acidic foods, coffees, energy drinks, these are all acidic foods that create the acidic environment internally also. So your body then would means to buffer that with minerals with In the bodies of Rob's minerals from the body in order to buffer that acidity. So what we're trying to do with our approach is move more towards a plant based and alkaline diet. And then it's interesting to see that the health benefits, your health automatically improves with that. Because then bye bye bacteria as etc, can't grow in that environment even, they just been, they're not comfortable. So if you take that environment away from them, then you can start to get the good bacteria thriving.
And this is the way forward because we want loads of good bacteria and we don't want the band by Celia. So if we create a nice alkaline environment internally, then we create in an environment for the good bacteria to thrive and for our gut flora to thrive. So the acid alkaline balance is very important to have and juicing is number one way that you can quickly transform from an acidic to alkaline environment. If anyone's familiar with Jason Vir, he has got a fantastic program. It's a video. And on that video, there was one gentleman, I believe it was a 21 day juice fast.
And after the 21 days when he went in, he had a small suitcase full of prescription medication by the end of the juice fast if he went away with just a small matchbox size suitcase with like one or two medications in it, that goes to show the power of juice and Annie also lost a couple of stone in weight, I think, at least a stone in weight. And so that goes to show the power of juicing and how it can have just such a dramatic effect on our health and the pH levels internally. So juicing first thing in the morning is ideal because first thing in the morning sometimes if we're a little bit acidic internally that we may be creating like things like the coffee to kickstart those as we need. Like when you Caffeine from the coffee has given us a bit of a kickstart.
But if we start the day with the juice, then notice the difference. Our palate can change for the whole day because you started on something that's creating an alkaline balance internally, then you taste the acidic things start to change. Now it may take a little bit of time but it is quite instant actually. When for the first time you may not notice it, but you take the juice and then you may not create the coffee afterwards. So go for the juice first, and then see if the coffee craving still there. But be mindful, the juicing is very powerful also, and you should go gently just start with small amounts, maybe 125 minutes at the 250 minutes, and that paid at the most you don't really want to be going more than a pint of juice at a time.
Half a pint is probably ideal because it can create create a little bit of a cleanse and a bit more of an effect on the liver. We want to be gentle with our liver. So gradually in it and seeing how it goes first, give it a try, see what works for you. So as well as alkalizing the body, juicing has a massive amount of nutrients, which are going going to be going straight into almost straight into the bloodstream. So anything kinetics is coming in through the mouth in the stomach and it's getting absorbed very quickly. Now, some people say that juicing Why are you taking the fiber away from from juices, you know, the food can spoil in nature and why take the favorite way?
Well, if we get an extremely nutrient deficient, then it's very, very fast way of getting quality nutrients where it's needed. Fast. So juicing is a real quality. We love doing that. Because you're taking the fiber away, and then the nutrients in it. We'll go straight into the system and almost bypassing the digestive system.
Of course they're going through the day digestive system, but the body is going to digest it that much quicker. Because we've taken the favorite away from it, then you're going to hit the new Gen straightaway. And you may have noticed that if anybody has done juicing before, you can notice almost instantly, it's like the lights are switching on or like every cell has been switched on in the body. It's very fast, very effective, and highly recommended. The transform you have. Another common question we get asked by clients is the juicing versus blending argument.
Now there's a lot of people that have got blenders now high speed blenders, and they say, well, what's the difference between blending and juicing? Well, they're both good in their own science. But one has got the fiber in and one hasn't, basically. So the jimson you've taken the fiber out, so high dose of nutrients, especially if you're having organic juice is very important to go organic if you're juicing, because if you're not going organic, then you're going to get a lot of pesticides which are also going to be going straight into the system very quickly. So organic juice is the way forward. Now, blending versus juicing.
I think personally, that the juicing has got a much faster effect of delivering those nutrients where they need to go to, and it's very alkalizing blending on the other hand is good, it's more fulfilling, and it means sustain you for longer than a juice. But for health benefits, and especially if you're a naturopath or a nutritionist or if you're working with people to improve their health. Then juicing is that much faster than blending and helping people to improve their health get their alkalinity levels up higher and get the MS levels are high as well. So we'd recommend you send to people that are coming in with chronic chronic conditions. Of course, it depends on the individual case. But we look at the cases individually and juicing is often recommended by us to help people and the results are profound.
So try juice in in your life, like I said, start off small, and then start to increase your amount of juice and wouldn't take much more than a pint of juice a day because it is a lot of work for the liver. If you're detoxing then because it because of the amount of nutrients that are going into the cells and of course, you're going to be detoxing and getting rid of the toxins. So the liver love that much more work to do. So don't overdo it, but find the right amount for you and it should have found effect and you have might be so what's the best masticating juicers or slow juices versus a centrifugal juicers we get this question And quite often and the MasterChef in our the slow juices and much better than the centrifugal ones. There are some centrifugal ones who don't help show in London recently and there are some centrifugal ones which we've tested now that they've managed to keep the enzymes intact with.
These are few and far between enhancing many other studies that have suggested this. So for now, going with the masticated on the slow juices and the way forward because there's less heat created, therefore the enzymes stay intact. And then we've taken on the enzymes and it's easier for the body to digest use with the mass with the centrifugal ones is a high speed high heat, so it can damage some of the enzymes and it can also create free radicals within the body. So our recommendation is that will go for slow juicers and the masticating juicers because they're the best Keeping the integrity of the juicer is best when you do sing is a helpful tip also, to use more vegetables and fruits, you can use some fruit to the new juices and tricks to use new uses of things like apples, pears, and lemons. Other juices can start to ferment in the stomach with the vegetables if we use too many of them so it's better to stick to those fruits and making those a small percentage of the juice trying to make it mostly vegetables.
Initially, you may find that you use a lot of fruit vegetables and some fruits to give it a little bit of sweetness. But what you might find and what you find is improve your health more. If you start using those ones then move to moving really from fruit and vegetables up to green juices and green juices are gonna The most effect that I have, because the chlorophyll and also the very alkalizing many has benefits. So what we're going to be doing is limiting the fruits, increasing advantage. And then we know that our blood sugars are going to be more sustained and it's not going to have so much of an effect on our pancreas. It's important to remember if there's no lemon or ginger in the juice, but not to leave it for more than a couple of hours, an hour, maybe two hours at the most, because it starts to oxidize that your body is going to be using more antioxidants.
So what we want to be doing is making our juice and then drinking it straight away. It's, that's the way to get the most freshness out of the fruits and vegetables or the vegetables mainly. And that's our top tip for juicing.
