Welcome to the session on transitioning to a plant based diet. transition into plant a plant based diet can take up to two years, because your body's been used to take it on protein from animal animal based proteins. Then when we transition to a plant based diet, sometimes it can take the body a little bit more time to adjust to get used to getting the protein from plant based foods. Because it's been having high density protein from the animal kingdom, then this can take up to two years for the body to start utilizing the protein within plants and plant based food better. So this has been known with our clients. And we've seen that actually initially, they may need much more higher high density protein foods in the plant kingdom, even having things like protein powders and protein shakes, just to substitute initially, but then, over time, start having less and less protein and actually utilizing protein better from the plant world.

I can give a testimony on this myself because I was an ex semi professional rugby player. I used to be very high protein rich diet, mixed great. It was a staple diet for me. And mixed real and then a lot of chicken and white meats together a lot of high protein, low fat. What I found when I was on a diet, interestingly enough was, I had quite a lot of trouble with my kidneys because I believe that my kidneys was struggling with such high levels of protein. So we want to be looking at transitioning into a plant based diet and plant based proteins.

There's many out there in the market now, I mean, you can use TOEFL if you went to TOEFL can get over us in the vegetarian if you're transitioning initially. It's okay to have some organic and a fermented foods are the best, but not having definitely not having more than three portions of that a week. Whereas some people can be having everything tofu because they start going onto plant based diet and initially Okay, maybe you will have in a lot of the alternative things but gradually get into the back the sources of protein from the plant kingdom. That's usually the way that it works from going from meat to a plant based diet. Usually you'll find with clients and people that have transitioned in is they'll go from red meat. Then they'll have some white meat like chicken and turkey.

Then they'll go from that then down into just fish, and then from fish, then we'll have eggs and then from eggs to per plant to a vegetarian diet or per plant based diet, because it's interested in as you go down as they go down from red to white to fish to eggs, also the acidity levels or the ascending lambs of those foods goes down. So when as far as the acidic when you in the red meats of quite highly acidic and then go in the white meats and less acidic, and the fish and then the eggs, then we go into plant based diet you get into more alkaline based foods. So that's what we want to be doing to our system. So as we start to change and clean up our data, then gradually we start to be attracted to more alkaline based foods. So it may not be necessarily for compassion for animals or whether you know you may see if the sun people go It is like that then they may see some films about abbatoirs etc.

And then it's like an overnight thing and they just say making Going to a plant based diet through it. But for those who may be just the the stand making changes, we get people on our courses, for example, they start implementing the naturopathic nutrition principles. We don't mention anything about going vegetarian. And then bit by bit, they start introducing more and more of a plant based diet. And sometimes they look back and think God, you know, I just can't eat, I can't put meat next to my mouth. Now I can eat meat, and it's almost like a natural protein as a body starts to hydrate, gets less acidic, gets more alkaline, then those foods are less attractive.

So that's a bit of a positive of moving to from an article and an asset to an alkaline diet. And that's how it tends to happen. It goes from red to white fish to eggs, and then to a plant based diet, or it can just happen like that, and there's many people that do it overnight. So we're going to talk a little bit more now about transitioning to plant based diet. You may be asking yourself and many other people often say as well especially when you first start to become even more of a plant based diet, then many people start saying Why are you getting a protein from? This is a big question that people ask.

And as I said previously, if, when a cow on a horse right now, so these are plant based animals, the the the plant based diet, so you went in, like, where did they get their muscles from? Then they get in the protein that they need in certain more than sufficient amounts from plants, mostly from grass. So, it's a fallacy for us to believe that we cannot get enough protein from a plant based diet. Just from those facts alone. Just take a look in the animal kingdom. gorillas, for example.

Take the plant based diet. They eat a lot of bananas as you know, and leaves etc. They're getting plenty of protein to be big, fit and strong. There's many athletes now these days that are turning more to plant based diet, because they're realizing the health benefits and actually they can get more out of their bodies when they start transitioning into a plant based diet. So there's lots of us UFC fighters, for example. And in different sports like football, athletics, there's many plant based athletes now, tennis players, that is starting starting to come to the forefront and they are leaders in their field.

So when can we get these proteins from in the plant kingdom sprouts is a fantastic way to get protein No, not the sprouts that you have descended in, but sprouted seeds. So sprouted seeds, seeds, which you hydrate. So you soak them initially. Then you drain the water off and then you leave the unit them to grow naturally. You can buy special jars, you can buy special spoke the machines, but it's quite simple, you just leave them to sprout. And what they do is like in nature when the seeds get wet, then they start to germinate and they start to sprout.

So when they start to sprout, that's when there's Optimum Nutrition because if you can imagine how much energy it takes for the plant to actually start growing, then that's when there's Optimum Nutrition. So what we do is spread those seeds and then you can add them to salads, for example, you can add them to smoothies, but they make a great salad just on their own. You can even if you didn't want to spread them, you can buy good qualities for organic sprouts now from companies. So there's no excuses really, but sprouts, is sprouts a really good way for us to get our protein on board and many other nutrients but they're very high in protein. With classes also very high in protein. And another trick with protein actually is to food combined.

So we need to get one of the things which is a true argument is that sometimes within a vegetarian diet, we're not getting the full array of amino acids within the diet. So if we could combine, for example, a house with a grain. So in the east, we use something called kitchen. The kitchen is a very simple meal. And it's got lentils in it, and it's got the green, right, so it's got the pulses and it's got the, it's got the green in it. And what that does then is give the body a complete protein.

So that's what we're looking for when we're transitioning into plant based diet is we want to be looking for complete proteins. Another way of doing that is by having a great week with a net, have a seat and another way is how Within that Odyssey, so if you make an any of those combinations, then you can complete protein. There are certain foods in the plant kingdom, which are complete proteins, but they are few and far further farther between. So when we're looking to transition into a plant based diet, we wouldn't be looking for these complete proteins, we want to look into the foods in the plant kingdom which have complete proteins in them. But until we get used to doing that, then a good way to do that is by food combining cell bodies are used to get in if we've been eating primarily meat and animal based products.

Our bodies have been used to get in the full range of amino acids. So we wouldn't be giving the body the full range of amino acids. And that is basically what people are saying when when they're talking about and protein and vegetarian diet and this the body getting used to this transition period. But when it does, it starts to function really optimally and you're Have we start to improve for the better
