So how do we use naturopathic techniques safely? It's important to assess some of the things that might be contraindicated in the naturopathic techniques. First of all, if you're taking a lot of medication, if you do a liver compress in the condition of medication, you might find that afterwards you get symptoms such as nausea, headache, detox symptoms, really. So in those cases, you would need to be assessed by a naturopath. Also, if you're still drinking alcohol or taking caffeine, castor oil on the liver will aggravate the symptoms. So I recommend that you have at least three days without alcohol, caffeine and medication before you do a compress on the liver.
Otherwise you will find that the symptoms can be quite severe. And we don't want to increase symptoms at this stage. We want to decrease the symptoms. Another contraindication is pregnancy especially in the foot A trimester the body is in a very sensitive state in the first trimester of pregnancy. And again, we wouldn't recommend Castrol treatments through any of the stages of pregnancy. Apart from the very end, if the baby is late arriving, you might have passed along to the belly to improve the ability of the body to let go then and to bring the baby on, but definitely not in the earlier stages of pregnancy.
Castrol can be really effective also on varicose veins directly rubbed on. And again, no contraindication wise, you wouldn't apply heat to an area that's already inflamed. So if you were putting lead compresses on to valgus fans, please don't use hot treatments on there like a hot water bottle for example. You would use hot water bottles on the liver and on top of a compress, for example on the kidneys all that bad, and that really warms up the oil and actually improves the ability for it to work. You definitely wouldn't put the warm area the heat on to an area that's already warm and inflamed, such as a sore throat or inflammation, so it's about the same. Lastly, the biggest contradict indication is actually applying a compress on to an organ transplant.
So you couldn't actually if someone has a liver transplant or kidney transplant, apply on prices in that situation. And it's purely because there's not enough research around this and it wouldn't want to be done because basically, we we don't know what could happen in those circumstances. And so that would be quite a big contraindication and appendicitis also where there's inflammation, put in a warm compress and even cast you along to an appendix that possibly could be in danger of erupting or burst and that wouldn't be recommended. So if there's any doubt around that, please do check out to the doctor. Before using these techniques to put in and without aside, when we're actually treating ourselves with these naturopathic techniques, if it makes such a big difference to how you feel I can't overemphasize that. So I'm going to move on now into this section to talk about how to encode ballots and also what solutions you might put into your bathtub in order to improve detoxification.
Again, there are some contraindications here, for example, high blood pressure, if you have your water to heart then it will increase blood pressure as it increases circulation. Also, if your blood pressure is very low and diagnosed as low blood pressure, you might feel faint as you're trying to get out of the bath or do in the hot bath and experience. And so it's important to check your blood pressure beforehand or have someone in the house helping you in and out of the bath if you have got low blood pressure with high blood pressure Epsom salt treatment. Which is something I'm going to tell you about in a moment is usually contraindicated if your blood pressure is being medicated with drugs. Because Epsom salts, which is magnesium salts usually raises the blood pressure. If it's a mild problem, then no no worries, but you do need to think about other techniques if you have got diagnosed high blood pressure.
So how do we use these salts in the bath Epsom salts is actually to a magnesium sulfate. And it's been discovered in research and many years of using it as naturopath that you can make a huge difference to energy levels and detoxification. Usually people know about Epsom salts but they're often worried about how much to put into above, I would say go by body weight would go by also how well that person is doing with their diet in terms of to regulate the amount that you put in. So for example, someone's drinking a good amount of water and they've been improving their diet over time. Then they might actually use one kilo per balls. And that's a therapeutic dosage of Epsom salts, which makes a really big difference to cleansing the skin, bringing in magnesium into the cells, which improves energy function, which improves energy certainly the next day.
And so Epsom salts when it absorbed through the skin in that way, increases magnesium within the body but also detoxifies any acidity in the system. So one kilogram in the bath, will it actually improve sweating and improve heat in the system, and so you can sweat quite a bit. So it is recommended that you keep the head cool when you're in the bath and be being careful when you get out of the bath and always finishing on a cold shower or running the cold water at the end of the bar. So you're finishing on cold treatment. Even if it's just more paddling with cold water than the birth feet that makes quite a big difference. And so how you feel after one here in the barn You generally feel drowsy at the end of the day.
So it does in the evening. And also the next day you'll feel quite energized. But if you are doing it for the first time I recommend that you do is on an evening where you haven't got work the next day or an early start, just in case there's any side effects of that treatment. And if in doubt, if you've got low energy, or you've been weakened, weakened due to an illness, you'd start with 100 grams of Epsom salts and you might move up to that one kilo. Epsom salts in the bath is not recommended in pregnancy, other than using 100 grams at a time. You couldn't use it in larger amounts until the last trimester if at all.
And so you might use again a larger amount. If the if the pregnancy was becoming overdue, and you could bring on a baby in that way. An increase in magnesium can make a big difference to relaxation of the muscles and a big difference to improve in the general function of the muscles within the system. So if you're someone who's an athlete who exercises a lot, you will be sweating out a lot of magnesium through the skin. And so you'd want to be incorporating magnesium regularly as part of your daily regime. If you wanted to use pink, Himalayan salts and pink salts have a variety of minerals within them, and that really can make a big difference to energy.
I recommend using pink Himalayan salt baths especially if you're using over 100 grams earlier in the day, so not too late at night because a high level of sodium within the salts can keep you awake. If he wanted to do about in the evening you could do a combination of Epsom salts and pink Himalayan salt. So you've got a combination for magnesium going in the generally with pink salt baths, you want to do them earlier in the day and you could even do salt scrubs on the skin where you're mixing pink Himalayan salt with olive oil and maybe some essentials to help improve improving satellite circulation. That can be quite energizing as part of the morning regime and glass the ginger into the box of making the pint of fresh ginger tea. And that would be the root ginger which has been boiled and simmered and pour in that wall into your bathwater.
And that really is quite an energizer and it acts like a diuretic so it helps improve water retention and will improve circulation by bringing heat to the system. That can be quite an energizer. So again earlier in the day, unless you sort of want us to keep awake for a few hours in the evening that I'd recommend not doing that after 6pm that they are the the idea of using essential essential oils in the bath as well be it want to be keeping those essential or separate to your pet your pink Himalayan salt, your Epsom salts and even your ginger bath. Because if you're using oils alongside the salts, it can be too strong for the body. And so you might find Feel nausea after the bath, etc. So I'd recommend if you are using essential oils, keeping that separate, so you're doing one technique per evening.
And so if you're doing a compress or an Epsom salt bath, do them on separate evenings, so you're not overwhelmed in the body because these techniques need to be gentle and self improvement so you should feel better when you're using them, rather than having any any symptoms or detoxifying symptoms. So think about what you want to achieve. also noticing that these techniques should improve your quality of life and long term they can really make a huge difference with energy and detoxification
