Okay, so we're finally here we have a game, I have a little video recording of a real game. And now we're going to take what we've learned about batters weaknesses. And primarily, I'm going to focus on game situation here. We're going to take an actual game. I'm going to pause the video at times, talk about the score, talk about the count, talk about the outs and talk about the runners on base. So let's get started here.

So we have a situation let's evaluate the situation you can see up here we have runners on first and third, we have two outs and the count is oh one. So in that case, if there's two outs, the best scenario that I can have is either a strikeout or grounder to my infielder or pop up to the outfield. But what you don't want, excuse me, is a ball in a hittable zone. At this point, we're only one we're ahead of the count. So right now I would be giving her a ball she has to fish for I'm not necessarily coming for a strike early in the countless because we have a runner in scoring position. So I wanted to make her work for so if I were Calling the pitch I would call low outside pitch because I want to ground or to the right side.

Confident in my fielders they can either tag the runner if it goes to second baseman or they have a nice short throw to get that runner at first. So let's see what happens what the call is and then we'll go from there. So it looks like and let's go back let's see where the catcher setup so she is set up right on the inside corner and it looks like the pitcher hits or spot but I don't agree with a call at all. So it's like a setup the catcher is wrong in that she set up right across the middle of her probably almost power zone. When she throws her a big meatball right here in the corner of the inside of the plate which is not where you want it to be. So you don't want to give her that meatball down the inside.

I can also know that this balls already Oh, almost every shortstop and the left fielder hasn't News. So that's a situation where you got to be on your left fielders. If you know there's going to be an inside pitch this left field or has to know that it's coming their way. They got to be ready to move on the score I believe is two to one. Yes. And we still have two out.

We have a runner on second. Oh count. You now want to look at the batter's weakness. Okay, so we know we need an out. This isn't necessarily going to get an hour now we get to evaluate the batter. She looks like she's far forward.

So you want to right you look at your chart. And remember that you're going to pitch to the weakness of the batter at this point since we have a situation where there's two outs and we need an out on this batter. So if you remember from our chart here, up front and the box, what you want is a fastball high and their fastest pitch or a rise. Let's go back to the situation. It's the top of the second we have a different team batting, two outs runner on second. You can see The Pit the catcher is set up inside and low, which I don't totally disagree with that that's fine.

Maybe they're looking to the weakness of the batter maybe they're trying to bring in a fastball which would be great. So let's let's see where this ball ends up that ball ends up right down the middle and somewhat high so not the pitch you really want to give what looks to be like a strong and fast batter and the result is a line drive up the middle for what seems to be an RBI base hit yes. Okay, next situation progressing now we're in the bottom of the second Oh count new batter. There's one out and the bases are loaded, and the scores two to one. So what do you want in this situation? I want a grounder.

And if you remember the statistics from Before the balls that were hits a left side of feel resolved in a lot more out. So we have runners in place, we have options of tagging the base at third or throwing home which is an easier shorter Pat throw. So I would look to have something placed on the inside corner here. And it looks like it looks like the catcher's actually set up to the outside, which would give this runner on third base more time to make it to home. She hits the outside, yeah, and gives them a beautiful outside pitch for probably maybe a beta. All right, so outside.

Again, oh, we have another situation. Here's the situation it is the bottom of the second the scores now two to four with two outs, runners on second and first or third. And why don't you want this pitch on the outside? Okay, so it's bottom of the second. One hour. bases loaded.

Where Don't you want the ball hit? Okay, a long ball to the outfield. So to prevent that you don't want to pitch many high pitches, those high pitches are going to be balls if they're watched by the batter. So and if you remember in the instance, in our chart, most of the balls that were hit to the left side of field resulted in out so I would like an inside pitch low. I can see already that she set up to the outside which is, which is setting up the batter for success because if you have runners on second third, where do you want the ball, you want the ball on the right side of field, so it's harder to get out over here on the left side of the field. So if she throws her an outside pitch, it's just setting up that batter for success.

Let's see what happens. Outside pitch, she goes with the pitch and she looks like she drops a nice little base hit to the outside. All right, let's fast forward In a little bit, I mean talked about why you don't want to pitch that to the outside. She just unloaded all the bases because of an outside pitch. Had it been on the inside a little bit lower hopefully would have gotten a grounded a third baseman, it could have been a tag and a double play situation, but we want to hit the corners, especially when we have the basis vote. And now let's talk about this situation.

So the score is two to six. So bottom of the third two outs, Amanda first and third, I can see a pattern with this team is they like to go to the right side of the field. So let our rights be writer and let our left be laughter. So in other words, let's get them fishing for some outside pitches and have them hit it to the first baseman or the second baseman versus up the middle to the right of the pitcher. So in this case, I pause the video. And let's look she brings in sort of an outside pitch and she puts it up the middle like our outside pitch has to be more out side.

Okay, and if you see a tendency that they're going to the right we need to shift our fielders and pitchers have to hit their spots. All right, let's look at this situation now top five scores two to seven one out, runners on first and third. I do not like middle of the road pitches like either throw it really high or throw it really low. But don't come in with a mediocre pitch expecting a player at this point in the game. to miss swinging, you've got to control where they're hitting the ball. So we need a grounder here to to the third baseman we need a grounder that actually to the first baseman would be even better where she could step on the base and throw it home and get the girl out running at home.

So I would come with a way outside pitch for strike. Something that she could poke to the right side and we get the runners so that she has a better angle to get that out at home. We need to stop runs from happening. But we also need out so let's Check this out I would take it way outside and low so we get a ground or the first baseman we come outside and belt height, so that's probably going to result in a nice little base hit and scores are run. Next to score is now three to seven. The count is three and two with one out runners on second third, our best situation again would be a grounder to the infield.

I love low pitches. Okay, if you want to pop it up, then we need a riser if she's up in the box. Now this girl is way back in the box. So we can look at our chart and we can determine what we're going to throw maybe a drop ball, but she's probably going to be a little bit behind the ball. she feels like she's a sore batter. That's why she's back in the back of the box.

So I would come on the inside. Side fastball for her to get a strike, the count is three and twos you have to can now connect that was in the beginning of a counter strike and then maybe some fast balls on the outside now, three to count runners on first and second, only one out. So we want that lead runner off the second so I would bring it inside low pitch. So she swings at that ball brings it to the shortstop or third baseman we get an easy out to the left side. I can tell you right now the catcher is set up way outside and that's probably grounds for a nice little hit rate about that area. Let's see what happens.

Yeah. So you know right where the catcher setup is where she just gave that batter, a nice little hit and that situation. Okay, same situation here we have runners on first and second. The scores five to seven one out. We want the lead runner out here on third. So we want To bring a strike in on the inside corner low.

Okay, you can set up on the outside your head in your account, but that shouldn't be a hittable ball at this point, we need a hit of a ball that's on the inside so we bring a grounder to our left side of the field. We make our pitcher look good. We make our fielders look good, because then we adjust our fielders for that inside pitch she shortstop should shift this step this way. And third baseman's ready to feel that ball touch first and go to one. See what happens. She hits a low, almost in the middle pitch that looks like it's going in the gap for a nice little line Dr. Hit.

And that concludes our little video evaluation session. Take into consideration the number of outs the count where you are in the game, who's on base, and what the weaknesses are of the batter. Play to the game situation especially When a game is tight, that's it for this course. Thank you for taking it all in hopefully. And remember calling a softball game is an art. You have to learn from your experience you have to learn from what the batter's have done in the past and move forward from there.

Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoyed this course.
