Okay, and this next part, we're going to talk a lot about stats. And we're going to answer the question, why does that matter? Because I know a lot of people probably don't believe in stats. So I'm going to give you some reason why. So why does it matter? Why do I do stats?
How can you use them? Are we use them? Do they benefit me? These are the questions, you know, maybe are in our mind, do they benefit the team? Do I go along with statistics only? How do I use them in different situations?
So let's get going here on your packet again, you're going to have to refer to diagram number one. And we're going to look at this diagram for the next three questions. And you're going to fill in the blanks. Now work gets some information here that I'm going to give you but right now, I want you to think about why you do what you do, or do you have a even have a reason why you do what you do. So basically, this is from a catcher's view this chart and the hitting average. So you have high and inside High and outside, middle inside, middle outside, low inside low outside, and then you have a category for all.
So the as doing the best you can, I want you to answer this question with numbers. Okay? What hitting average occurs in each of the indicated areas of the strikes zone? What hitting average? Okay, so like a batting average based on 100%. So point 002 will be 2% of the time.
What hitting average so pause the video, think about it. And I didn't give you the full picture of a strike zone, strike zone, but we're just talking about inside outside, high pitch, middle pitch and a low pitch pause the video and fill this out. I want to reiterate or go back and what I said it's not a batting average is a hitting average. So what's the difference? This is how many times somebody would hit the ball like at bat, you know, batting practice, okay? You hit the ball, one, two, you miss it, three, four, you hit a four.
So it's not how many times you get on base. So it's how many times does the person actually hit the ball. So a similar chart. This is using diagram number two, based on a catcher's view as the title says, you're going to fill in the number of hits per game based on a seven inning game, or 21 outs, how many hits Do you think happen when the balls high and inside high and outside, high or middle inside middle outside low inside low outside, pause the video and fill out that chart? Okay, next, you're going to fill out diagram number three. And the question is, if nobody swings at the ball, what percentage were called strikes by the umpire again, the same chart inside outside high, middle and low, pause the video and fill out that chart.
Once you filled out all the information, go to the next section in the course. And I will give you the actual information to the statistics that the questions that you just answered.
