Alright guys, I'm excited to introduce you to two resume templates that I've created and I've downloaded and I've edited them. From online license free resumes, it's really simple. I've done all the hard work for you. So these ones I've downloaded and adapted. Some are from the Microsoft website. Some are just, you know, free license free resumes.
So I like these, I like these so in front of you, and you can see the direct contrast between the bad templates, which I've just shown you and the good templates, which I'm showing you now. So a lot of these have some form color ones more colorful than the other one, the one on the left hand side right here, guys, where my mouse is, is the classic resume. Okay, so this is the traditional classic resume that you'll find typically pretty much most old school. I guess, people with these resumes. It's just a classic, so it's just a legitimate, no fast, no thrills. Most classics would also have no color.
In this case, there's a little bit of color. This helps with ease and reading as well. The right hand side We've got probably a more modern day one, we've got a header with some color, you've got lots of color throughout. Definitely more easy on the eye. It just depends on style. So if you prefer the classic way, choose the classic type, right?
If you like a little one with a little bit more jazz or a bit more flamboyant, then please choose the more modern day template. So the difference between these two right now. And so you'll see here once for one with experience, the classic resume that you can download has experience so if you have some kind of experience, you might want to download that one equally, you can adapt the no experience resume. This is someone with no experience. In terms of actual kind of financial analyst experience, this person is usually either fresh out of school maybe had one year at not exactly a financial analyst role. But you know, let's just say they're a part time bookkeeper and accounting firm or something like that.
This is that so you'll find that these phrases amazed, pretty succinct. One half pages, maybe two. And Yep, this one, two and a half pages. So. So guys, the reasons why these are better templates, I'm just going to go for a few principles compared to the bad ones that we have just seen. So I'll start off with the classic resume, the classic resumes clean.
Um, you'll see there's very efficient use of whitespace here, compared to some of the bad resumes that we just saw. Let's, let's go down. The margins are perfect, actually, yep, the margins are pretty much perfect, except that one right there, which I've just changed. As you can see, you see the devils in the detail here, guys. So if you have a resume, that looks like for instance, like this, it just looks weird, doesn't it? And so, immediately as a reader, I'm like, oh, why is that the you know, this is displeasing to my eyes.
So if everything's lined up, like here, Things look good. And so it's just easier to read on my eye. And you'll see that I've outlined the response responsibilities achievements. And we'll go through this in more detail as we go through the actual subcategories of the resume but you'll find, I typically write an outline of the particular company. You'll see this particular bolding here as well of key things are blacked highlight professional summary. Good email address compared to you know, hot babe at@gmail.com.
You don't always have to write your address a lot of modern day addresses, sorry, resumes don't require it anymore. So obviously, if you're handing this resume in, you want to click this delete button right here to get rid of obviously, my trademark. I'll put that back in there. So this is a clean resume guys are very, very clean. So you'll see here nice and succinct. Education is extracurricular activities nice and succinct.
You'll also find I've summarized other employees. So let's just say you have experience, I've put down my experience. And then I put down relevant experience, but it's just a one liner, because you're just an intern here at the London Stock Exchange is nothing major. If you had no experience, for instance, you might want to highlight this because you're going for an entry level job. But if you're going for a more experienced role, you would just put these little one liners for RV relevant experience that you might have. So you'll find this well, that there's nothing in the headers, so I've got nothing, I've got no headers.
I've got no photos either and nothing in there. You'll also notice that every little bit of whitespace is minimized. So in this case, when you go down this left hand side resume this classic resume. And I'll just minimize this guy's so that we can focus on this one. You'll find that yes, the whitespace is used wisely. So I sometimes do this there's a trick to save whitespace.
So you see you've got a paragraph right here, you can actually make this look even tighter by pushing this number to five. So you've actually just saved if you do this a few times you will save easily one or two lines, okay? easily so I can control that that you see that so if I put this to one, it might even be tighter. So that still looks good. Still got space looks fantastic. So these are stuff that I do to tighten up my resume to make it look more professional to make sure I'm using all the whitespace that I possibly can.
That still looks good. So feel free guys to now download this. We'll be using these templates as we go along throughout the process. So make sure You download it now choose which one you like, do you like the classic? Or do you like the modern, so we're gonna have a quick look at the modern now. Let's open it up here.
Blow it up. Alright. So once again, lots of color here, very easy in the UI, it's kind of your resume is a representation of you as well. So you just someone that likes color is maybe, you know, a bit more modern than this might be for you. I personally like this one. You'll see he even in the boxes here.
I've added a text so it's on an actual image so that software can access to scan these particular skills, and that's really important. So you don't want it to be one where they can't scan any words. Okay, guys, so these are just boxes with edit text, and it should still pick up so if I do a Yep, if I do a grammar check, it will still pick up the words inside the box. That's exactly what we're looking for. Okay? So you see I like to highlight things I want to show off so let's just say we've got no experience and but you've been an investor before you know a little bit about financial markets you want to kind of show that off by saying that you've had a stock portfolio that has achieved great and market returns okay and that's obviously shows that hey, this person knows a little bit by financial Alice she's or he has achieved something even though she's never had an official job.
So you'll see he education's always first for for non non experienced financial, wanting to be financial analysts. You'll see again, a lot of this stuff's in boxes. So this To be honest, is templates a bit harder to use. So just be weary. This may take you longer to edit than the more classic resume okay. See all white lines are used.
I've made this super tight and clean. So in my view, this is perfect, you'll notice that I do have a header in terms of color. But you'll notice that these boxes are all editable text. And so this is really important and you want to make sure that these margins you see in a new version of Word or all lines, this makes it more aesthetically pleasing for the managers who see this stuff is important. And some managers will see attention to detail important, okay, so some managers will prioritize, okay, this is look good, okay, this looks good. Maybe this person is going to be presentable, maybe this person has a good eye for design, for instance, or she has a good eye or he has a good eye for making presentations look good.
So and also you want to make sure that there's no typos in this as well. So for managers who are very detail oriented and really anal about grammar, especially if you're going to be a financial analyst. These things like typos, factually incorrect. consistencies are very important. So make sure that we're doing that to you notice that all things are aligned here. All the boxes aligned as well.
So this is a good example. There's no personal details as well, like we saw in the previous examples. We've got a professional email here as well, john smith, obviously, that's pretty much impossible to get. But if you wanted to do your own, you can do john dot and T dot Smith, which could be initial for instance, I put in LinkedIn profiles, well, you can customize your LinkedIn profile as well. We'll go through that later. And so these are the two templates we're going to be using folks.
So we've got one with experience and one without experience. And we've got a classical versus a modern so you guys get to choose, we're going to go through step by step, and I'll help you literally type in some of this stuff as we go along. And so I'm excited to go through it with you guys. So, so make sure you download it now and we're going to go on to actually filling this template up. See you in lecture lecture, guys.
