Video 5.4 learning Athena and getting started with Amazon quick site. In this video, we'll learn the following. What is Amazon Athena? Why are we using Athena? Writing a query in Athena? What is Amazon quick site?
Why are they using quick site creating an Amazon quick site account? In the previous video, we stored the data in s3 bucket. Now, how can you see the data in the bucket? Okay, come let's download the data from s3, open s3. Select any one of the files here on the top you can find download, download it and then open it unable to understand what this is. Can you understand?
I guess no. Okay. This is because the data is in packet format. Amazing has a service called Athena. here we can write simple query statements and extract the data in a structured format from the s3 bucket before Getting started with Athena practically, let's learn what is Athena? formerly, Athena is an Amazon Web Service.
Using Athena, we can write simple queries and easily analyze the data directly from Amazon s3 using standard SQL. Athena is a serverless service. So we don't need to manage or setup anything to use it. In Atlanta, we need to pay as per usage. That is, when we are running a query only a tenant can execute multiple queries in parallel. So Athena works fast, even for large and complex data sets.
Why are we using Athena? I think everyone by now would have understood the reason behind using Athena. We'll be using Athena to query the actual data that is stored in the s3 bucket. If we do this, we can view the stored data in a tabular form. Okay, I think now it's time to try this out practically, writing a query in Atlanta. Here on the top in services search for Atlanta.
Now, open it in a new tab, it will direct you to a page like this. Here, select Get Started. Now, we'll start connecting the database that we created in AWS glue. Amazon provides a free tutorial on how to use ethanol, you can just have a look at it. For now, I'll use this and get started with ethanol. Here on the left hand side, it has already selected my database and my table.
This because these were the last created database and table. So we directly start writing the query, select star from my ESP 32 underscore table. And then don't forget to add a semicolon. This is the syntax for writing a query statement in Athena. Now, we'll run this query here. Select run.
Yes guess you can see this enter data in a tabular format like this. Yeah, V analyze the sensor data that is stored in s3 using Athena. So now what are you waiting for? Let's complete the course by visualizing the sensor data with Amazon quick site, the world's largest business intelligence tool. Now let's first understand what Amazon quick site is. Quick sight is an Amazon Web Service.
It is a powerful business intelligence Cloud Service that helps us in analyzing data from many resources and lets us in delivering insights to anyone in the organization for improvement in business, we can create and analyze visualizations of the customers data in quick sight. Quick site is basically very easy to use and a fully managed service. It first collects the data and then moves it into space and then visualizes it. But what is spice spice is an abbreviation for superfast parallel in memory calculation engine and is the brain of quick site Using space we can collect data from various Amazon services like s3, redshift, ideas, etc. Spice has large storage and processing capacity, which will save a lot of time using space we can collect and also transform the data and then visualize the transformed data. So, basically the data is pushed to space from various sources, then the data in space can be aided, transformed, compressed or simply stored.
Finally, the data in space is analyzed using quick site. Also, using quick site we can easily create and publish interactive dashboards that include ml insights. Quick site is priced only based on our usage via using Amazon quick site. Amazon quick site is a very powerful and highly used business tool. But in this course, we'll take the sensor data from Amazon s3 and then plot graphs in memory. on quick site, quick say directly pulls and receive data from Amazon services like Amazon, Aurora, Amazon redshift, Amazon relational database service, Amazon s3, Amazon dynamodb, Amazon, Athena, etc.
Since we have analyzed the data in Athena will pull the data directly from Athena. Okay, now let's get started with Amazon quick site. For using Amazon quick site, we need to first create a quick site account. It's a quite simple process, creating an Amazon quick site account. first log into the AWS Management Console. To search for quick site selected, you can use the same AWS account to sign up for Amazon quick site.
This is my AWS account ID. I'll be using the same account for Amazon quick site also. So selecting sign up for quick site. Now we need to choose the edition for our account. We'll be using this account only for a simple visualization of the sensor data. So I'll be choosing the standard plan only.
The first GB of space space is free here. Okay, now let's just scroll down, and then continue. Here, we need to give some details before the account is created. Make sure that you select the region correctly. It's very important. Quick site account name, give a unique account name for your account.
The account name can only contain characters, digits and hyphens. So I'm giving my account name as sanity hyphen maker Demi hyphen, account, notification email address, give your email address here. I will mine Satya direct macadam e.com. Actually, we can pull this insert data directly from both Atlanta or an s3 bucket by selecting the services here. By selecting these we will be giving them the I am permissions in this course I'll take the data from Atlanta. But guys, you can try visualizing the data from s3 bucket directly as an assignment.
If you face any issue, please email us at support at direct macadam e.com. Here, Athena is already selected, then select Amazon s3. Here, we need to select the bucket to which I am permissions needs to be granted. I'll select my s3 bucket here, and then select buckets. Now finish my quick site account is being created. Select go to Amazon quick site.
Welcome to quick sight. Yes, we created the quick site account. Now let's take a tour of this account. Here on the right hand side you can see the regions in which quick site is available. Now in my account, I'll select Manage quick site. Here, you can invite and add users to your account.
So in a company, we can add all the employees and then visualize this Data added by everyone. Next yes subscriptions. When a quick site account is created, you get one free user account. But when you invite and add additional users to your account, you will be charged for those user accounts on a monthly basis. But if you purchase a subscription, then you need to pay on an annual basis rather than a monthly basis. So if you purchase a subscription, you will receive a discounted price in return for the extended time commitment.
Next space capacity, the data is stored and processed in space. Here you can see how much space capacity is available and how much capacity you have already used. As the default the to the space capacity is allocated to your home AWS region. If you want to use any other region, then you need to purchase the space capacity. Here For me the spice capacity is for the North Virginia region. Spice toaster data down until we chose to delete it.
So to free up the space capacity, the only ways to delete the unwanted data assets from space. Okay, let's move ahead next account setting. If you want to delete your Quick Set account, then you can select unsubscribe here, security and permissions. If you want to pull the data from any other service, then you need to first give the proper permissions. If you want to add or remove access for services, you can select this. Here you can edit AWS permissions.
Imagine that you created another s3 bucket. Now, can you directly visualize the data in the bucket? No, this is because we need to give permissions for every s3 bucket. Before visualizing here we need to add the s3 bucket so that the proper permissions are given to that bucket and then update. Since I have not edited the permissions I'm selecting cancel Okay, back to the homepage. For now.
I'll end this video here. In this video we have learned the following. What is Athena? Why are we using Athena? Writing the query in Athena? What is Amazon quick site?
Why are they using quick site, creating an Amazon quick site account? In the next video, we will visualize the sensor data using Amazon quick site.
