So here's a shot of New Hollywood twist and notice the model's hair length much longer than that. And you're going to have a little bit of trouble doing this design. Separating the front out of the way forward because it's important that we have a good sectioning in the back in the crown and the top of the head for the teasing. The teasing here is absolutely key thin slices that you can see through as the bride kind of might look at you funny, it's important that you just calm her and reassure her that it's absolutely necessary to have this foundation. If you don't do enough, you're gonna be fighting the luck. It's gonna be slippery, it's gonna be all over the place.
Now I'm going to step down to the wider part of the head after this section and I'm Gonna start going now with two sections because I'm coming to the round of the head in the back. I'm going to do one side there, one side more on over here. And then one other little section of teasing in the back. And like I said, this is an important step. And this is where a lot of I see a lot of students, a lot of stylists freak out in the teasing, or they sense a client's nerves and they pull back and they don't do enough. And it's really important.
I can just cap that kind of around the head shape, because it's really key, how this teasing is the whole luck. So now I'm going to let down the front. And you'll notice right here, when I go to bring it back, there's a little piece stuck underneath. Just make sure that none of the hair gets stuck underneath and I'm going to lift up inside for that section and you'll see it in the tutorial slides where I kind of push up and you'll see that right here in motion, getting it tight there behind the ear, and just lifting that crown. And going in with a bobby pin. I'm going to turn it so you can see.
And it's important that the bobby pins lock into each other. And I usually like to finish one off. Now you'll notice I'm not grabbing all of the hair, there's still a little strip of hair up there that's not quite in. But it's, it's in the cheese that we made, and it's going to hold. So, that crown poof again, is key to this look. Now here's the tricky part and and it's gotta be done.
Just loosey goosey with your hands and trusting you gotta trust yourself. And watch my thumb. They're gonna hook up, hook up, hook up there goes and is grabbing the hair and I'm coming around and just warming a twist. Now what's nice about this is I'm not concerned with grabbing all of the hair, and grabbing most of the hair because this is New Hollywood twist. This is a modern take on the French twist. We don't want her to look like something stepping out of the 1960s.
This is a modern take on that look. So this is why this model or the client can't really have hair that's too too long, because then these ends would just be really long, but you know, you can work with it. So as you see I don't really use products when I'm working on my mannequin heads and just kind of grabbing and pinching and just loosey goosey Just gonna just pin some of that right into the scene. I'm going right into this theme. And just kind of flicking it letting the curls that are on the ends from the hot rollers just kind of do their thing. So now this part is where you grab it and pull it out and you twist it and it doesn't matter.
You can twist it in either direction. I'm going to show you that. I'm going to do it in two different directions so you can tuck it in. And I'm going to let go. Now I'm going to twist the other way. Because this is experimenting, this is not getting it right or getting it wrong.
You are an artist. This is experimenting. I like how that one goes better. So you can tuck this little twist inside or let it show you will see it the model has the twist showing just a couple of more bobby pins to secure that theme Now I'm gonna let that down. Now again, I would spray this get it kind of tacky and I'm going to do a little sewing and twirling technique with the hairpin. Again find that seam, put it right into that seam and don't overwork the design.
Just kind of let the hair do its thing. And basically, that is it. This is definitely one style that had to be done live. And I wanted you to see this possible. So here's the real model. You can see the little knot I left it showing.
The idea with this hairstyle is the shape and the silhouette, not necessarily the perfection of the curls.
