Here's my template, I take my template, and I adhere it to my light source. And in this case, it's my light pad, but I would just tape it to a window as well. It's just a large piece to trace over if you're going to trace it rather than eyeball it. And then I put my paper right on top of my template, and then I have my light coming from behind it. And so if this is a window, the sunlight will be what's coming behind him. And then I just do a light trace and I try just to have a light hand.
And because the carrots aren't perfect, they're very forgiving. All I have to do is make sure that I have my template, my paper on the template where I want it to go. So draw this and I'm not going into great detail here, but I can't exaggerate any of the carrots that I want. I can make them fatter or thinner. It's really up to you. I kind of just make a guide here of where the greens from the carrot are going as well.
At this point, I can look and see if there's anything I want to modify on the carrot over here. It's a little thick for me. So I'm just going to kind of change that down so it looks less like a pepper and more like a carrot. And I'll do that wherever I feel I need to do that. I want these to look like carrots right from the garden. Not pristine carrots that have already been shaved or cut to size.
And once I have that done, I can start painting
