I want to talk about why diets fail. The diet industry is a $66 billion industry. And it's based on our repeat business. Because obviously, if diets worked, there'd be no diet industry, it'd be no need for it. Many, many years ago, one of the CEOs of Weight Watchers was talking to their shareholders and was proudly boasting about them having the perfect business model. People lose weight.

People then go off their diet, they regain all of the weight. They blame themselves for it, lack of willpower, lack of ability to stay focused and controlled. And then they return to Weight Watchers because it worked before so you know, Weight Watchers is obviously the good guy or what Died it is, is the good guy. You returned to the diet happily feeling like that was your fault. And you continue on. This is the business model of most diets.

A couple of years ago, there was a study done by suncorp Bank and Australian study and they found that Australian households were spending around two and a half thousand dollars a year on health equipment, diet fads. And that's that's a lot of money. If I asked you to put your hand up, if you had paid for a gym membership that you never used, I would say a lot of hands would go up, including mine. I've been there. I've done that diet. Anything that requires you to deprive yourself will almost always fail.

And the question I asked You? Do you want to live your whole life, the rest of your life? Do you want to live the rest of your life, being at a party and agonizing about whether you should eat the cake trying to work out where the calories you've had today? And how much exercise you're going to have to do to make up for that, and worrying about the dinner that's being served. You know, what cnh, how many, how many calories, kilojoules all of those things. Do you want to spend the rest of your life like that?

Well, I don't know about you, but I spent enough years like that. I've missed out on enough desserts on enough meals, odd enough amazing experiences, all because I was caught up in the diet trap. I often refer to it is the diet cycle. You know, you Why'd you go on a diet you lose weight, you go off the diet, you gain weight you go on a diet goes on and on and on. And the worst part is that we blame ourselves for edge. One of the biggest things that I learned is that it looks like a diet and smells like a diet.

It's probably a diet restriction is not our friend. Anything that restricts the food groups that can have breads as you can have sugar kid says you can't have anything is going to make you want that more. It's that old chestnut. If you can't have something, you want it all the time. I used to have dreams at night about stuffing my face with all the foods that I wasn't allowed to have on my eating plan. The last lot of diets that I did with the keto diet, I think, you know There's there are great understandings behind keto.

But anything where you can't live a normal life is not living a great life. I think so many of us feel that if we give up diets, we are giving up on ourselves. Nothing could be further from the truth. Giving up diets is about switching your focus from weight loss, to health. I care about my health. I care about my body and my mind.

And I want to look after myself, because I love myself. giants make us hate how we are, you know, we're unhappy with ourselves, go on this diet and you can look like her go on this diet and you can lose five kilos, or 10 kilos or 15 kilos. And when you lose that weight, your life will change. Well, we're born lost weight on diets. Were you happy to the five minutes that you were at that low wage? No, because to stay there was hell.

You had to not eat you had to not leave your brain was totally obsessed with counting calories and exercise and all of those sorts of things. I exercise four times a week. I love exercise, but I do it because it makes me feel fit and fabulous and strong. I don't do it because I'm trying to lose weight. I don't even own scales, and I'll talk to you about that in a later video. But diets fail.

Keeping Up diets will be one of the best things that you will ever do for yourself. It is an industry that doesn't care about you. I care about you. I care about the example you set for your kids, the example you set for yourself, and I care about you doing away with shame and guilt. And all of the things that are attached to diet culture. So make that decision.

Anything that looks and smells like a diet. We're not buying into anymore. We are learning how to live our lives diet free, and we're not giving up on ourselves. If anything, we're showing how much we believe in ourselves and I'm going to show you how
