Well, that last lesson was fun. And now we're on to something called slurs. slurs happen when you use two notes that on one bow. So the one bow that I'm talking about is a down bow, Bob. Now, I'm going to connect to nodes, again that into notes, again, data. Students learn doesn't always have to be two nodes, it can be lots of them, da da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
So how we're going to do this for our exercise is we're going to play our D scale, and we played the D scale a couple videos ago, so it was cool, just refresh our memory. So it's going to be this open D string or the open third string 123. Followed by our index finger playing a regular one. And then our second finger playing high two and then a three being really close to the to open a regular high to last us gonna be three really close to the two. We're going to do two notes at once. No, but you get the point, right.
So we're going to do it together. So it's going to look like this just first we're going to break it apart, a little tiny little parts. And then we're going to put it all together so it looks like this. Open D followed by one, all in a down bow. Okay, let's do it again. One more time.
All right. Okay, so now we've done a bunch of them in a row. Let's do the next part doesn't we just did. The next part of the scale is two, three, and those are going to be upwards to three. Again, couple more times. One last time.
All right. So if we put those two together, we're going down, down, up up as we move up the scale of D. So we're in places really slow. Go ahead and play it with me 321 One more time for good measure. All right, so now we're gonna just repeat the process except we're gonna go all the way up the scale to the other D. So we're gonna do it super slow so that you can see my bow change. So I'll also say Down, down, up, up, and I won't be calling out the notes, except I will be calling the direction of the bow. All right, so we're going to do this quite a few times.
And if you have a hard time catching on, just rewind the tape back into the starting point, and then we can start again to have good Solid starting point. All right, here we go but really slow. Down, Down. Down, down, down, down, down, down. Down. Down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down last note All right.
So now that's what a slur is. So doing multiple notes at once we're having to do it two times for the same bowl. So, we're going to continue this on. We're going to do the same scale and everything except I'm not gonna call out the downtown's and up ups. So again, if you get lost and you feel like you need to start over, just rewind the tape, bring it back to the beginning of the of this next part, and then start again and get lost again, rewind it back to the beginning part again, and then you'll have a good starting point three to one Okay, now we're gonna do it one last time, we're gonna slightly increase our speed, about the speed. And if you're not ready for it yet, don't worry.
So take some time practicing the first speed. And when you're ready, go back to this video and you'll be ready for the second part. All right, so 321 go All right, great work and we'll see you in the next lesson.
