Because insulin is so important, I want you to look at it in a little bit more detail. Insulin is a hormone. And hormones are the body's messengers. They dash around the body and they give instructions and they take instructions. And without hormones, there would be chaos in our body. So insulin is formed in the pancreas, and its role is to carry glucose into the cells via the insulin receptors.

So effectively what insulin does is it when is glucose in the blood insulin will go along with the glucose. It picks up the glucose imagine it puts it on its back, it takes it to the cell knocks on the cell door. The cell door opens to insulin the cell door will not open to glucose but it will open to insulin. And it will allow the insulin to carry the glucose into the cell. So, of course, we eat food and our food will come in various forms protein, carbohydrates and fats. When we eat, our blood glucose level rises. In other words, the sugar in our blood rises. The body senses that there is now sugar in the blood. And it triggers the pancreas to release insulin. So the pancreas is not going to respond, an insolent is going to be released.

The amount of insulin that the pancreas releases depends on the amount of sugar that is in the blood. Insulin, as I explained, carries the glucose it picks up the glucose on its back, and it carries the glucose into the cells via the insulin receptors. Now what happens is the glucose, the glucose is of course, in fact, the cells, the glucose in the blood decreases, so those levels drop. You eat your leptin levels are going to rise. As soon as leptin levels rise, it triggers the pancreas to stop secreting insulin, which, of course is a good thing.

We don't want this constant fat of insulin. Now, within yourself, no glucose is now within the cell. The mitochondria will take that glucose, and they can convert their glucose to ATP adenosine triphosphate. And that as I mentioned earlier, is your little energy pocket that the body can use. As the ATP is produced, the glucose is used and the cell glucose decreases. And when the cell glucose decreases, that's going to trigger your hunger response.

Now, what happens when we not eating or when we sleeping in the time between meals once the glucose has moved into the cells The blood glucose has decreased. This triggers a different response in the body. So as the glucose decreases, there is no more need for insulin. However, when we sleeping, the body still needs a fuel source you heartstone needs to beat and do metabolic prices still need to detox etc. So remember, I told you how insulin makes sure that sugar is stored in the liver and in the muscles will now this is when that's stored glucose that stored glycogen comes in use. But now, insulin.

Insulin as a release would give the wrong message so the body doesn't need insulin anymore. Now the pancreas secretes a hormone called glucagon. And it is glucagon. That releases that stored glycogen so that's stored sugar from the liver so that the body has a fuel source. glucagon also triggers law policies and policies is another name for fat breakdown of fat burning. So that our body has another source of fuel.

It's got the glycogen in the liver and it can also burn fat if it needs the fuel. So, you can you can see the glucagon because it triggers lipolysis is a very desirable human to have in our body.
