So let's look at backlinking. What is backlinking? Well, backlinking is where someone links back to your website. So they put a link on their website to your website. The more search authority they have, the more juice that backlink feeds into you, the more Google juice it passes back. So it's really important that we understand backlinking.
Now natural backlinking is where someone has done the work and actually link back to you fake backlinking is where you have manufactured the backlink. And Google can tell the difference. If I see natural backlinking, they're going to give you a boost in SEO, if they see fake backlinking it can be a terrible consequence. Now a word of warning with this. I knew of a company that built up their SEO over a long period of time and became very well positioned in search. And then what happened was that use an SEO company now 18 months 12 to 18 months after did use the SEO company, they got a penalty and all of a sudden their business disappeared from search and they were online business disappeared from search couldn't find it.
PAGE 12 of results. And it took them six months to go in and disavow. We're gonna be talking about that later to disavow all the bad links that this company have set up for them and brought that in. So we have to understand is that Google punish bad backlinking and you might be getting away with it now. But there'll be a tweak in that in the algorithm at some point to the SEO, and now we're gonna get punished. So don't do it.
Always go for natural backlinking No matter how much you see that 20% in the pie thinking. backlinks are really important. Don't do what the blackhat SEO is doing, just go out and randomly throw backlinks to your website wherever they can get it. And one of the practices you have to be really careful of is when you're commenting on blogs, And linking back. If you're gonna do that, make sure that the comment actually has something of value in that blog, you're commenting on something, and then you can share the backlink back. And it's done in a polite way.
And often what is best is to actually ask the blog owner full permission to actually link back. So you can send them a quick thing, say I want to leave a comment. It's going to include a link back to my site, will that be okay? If they say no, do it if they say yes, that's great, you've got their permission. Because a lot of people think backlinking is basically going commenting on blogs, a little bit more than that. But if you want to do that, make sure you get permission from the blog owner.
