Hi, and welcome back. This is week eight of guitar lessons in the music coach program. This week, you're going to work on playing the G major scale going up and down the neck only on the G string. Like I mentioned last week, the guitar is a unique instrument in that you can travel up and down in terms of pitch in one location like we did last week, and also by going up and down the neck towards your body and away from your body. Here's how to play the G major scale only on the G string. We're gonna start by playing the G string open.
Then the number one finger is going to go on the second fret of the G string play a then just slide up To the fourth fret and play B. Then use your second finger on the fifth fret to play C. Then your number one finger up to the seventh fret and play D. Then move the number one finger up to the ninth fret and play E. Then move your number one finger up to the 11th fret, play F sharp and use your second finger on the 12th fret to play G. Hear the notes one more time, G is open. A is on the second fret, D is on the fourth fret. C is on the fifth fret. D is on the seventh fret. E is on the ninth fret.
F sharp is on the 11th threat and hygiene On the 12th fret here the notes descending, high G is on the 12th fret, F sharp on the 11th and slide number one finger down to the ninth fret and play E. Number one finger down to the seventh fret and play D. Now put your second finger on the fifth fret and play C. Then put your number one finger on the fourth fret and play B, your number one finger on the second fret, play a and then play the G string open. All right, excellent work, and we'll see you in the practice video.
