Hi, welcome back. This is week seven of guitar lessons in the music coach program. This week, you're going to learn the whole G major scale. Now major scales make up most of the music that you hear that's been made and popular song and jazz and rock. And in this program, the entire program is built around the G major scale. Now what we're going to do is we're going to learn how to play it both in one hand position which is between the open strings and the third fret.
And then in the later video, you're gonna learn how to play the same scale going up the neck on one string. The guitar is a unique instrument and that way that we can go up and down in one location and we can also go up and down by going back and forth across the neck. For now, we're going to start with The G string open. We're going to play the second fret of the G string with your second finger, I want you to use your second finger in the second fret, because your fingers one finger is going to go in each fret because we're keeping our hand in one location so that you don't have to move your hand position back and forth to play the whole scale. play the G string open. Then play the G string on the second fret with your second finger.
Okay, then I want you to play the B string open. Number one finger on the B string on the first fret and then number three finger on the B string on the third fret D then the high E string open Number two finger on the second fret of the high E string that makes F sharp. The number three finger on the third fret of the high E string that makes G. Again, G string open G string on the second fret with the second fingers a string open string on the first fret with the first fingers see. D string on the third fret with the third finger is D. E string open. string on the second fret with the second finger is F sharp Easter string on the third fret, the third finger is G You're also going to be working on playing the scale descending, which is just in the opposite order.
Here's how to play decently. third finger on the third fret of the high E string. second finger on the second fret of the high E string is F sharp, E string open. third finger on the third fret of the D string is the first finger on the first fret of the D string is C. Like it getting comfortable with any scale takes some time, especially Moving from string to string, you have to get coordinated between moving your left hand to a smaller string at the same time as moving your right hand to the smaller string.
Be patient, take your time, try and get it as cleanly as you can. And remember that like any other skill, it's going to take you some time, you're going to sometimes move the wrong way or play the wrong string and it's totally okay. Everybody has to take the time to learn something new. All right, great work. And we'll see you in the practice video.
