Welcome back. And in this video, I'm going to show you how to install Python. So when you open your browser, let's go to www.python.org. It'll take you to this website. There are different downloads for whatever it is that you're going to download. As you see they have different platforms.
So there's Mac OS, there's windows, there's even some other platforms that it's in there. I'm on Windows. So I'm going to download Python three dot seven, three for Windows, and they have little notes in here like note this Python 3.5 plus cannot be used on Windows XP and earlier so you can go view the full list of downloads if you had an older operating system. So I'm going to click on Python three here, and I'm just going to download this to my download area. I'm going to open it and install so double click You can choose to customize if you want to, I'm just gonna click the Install Now. And yes.
As you can see, this actually sells pretty quickly. Once the download is done, you'll see the setup successful dialog box pop open, and then I'm just going to click close on that. So the next thing I want to do is actually open Python and then get it ready. So I'm going to click on my start button. This on Windows 10. I'm going to go down to my Python, I'm actually going to create a shortcut to my start area so that I can find it pretty easily.
I want to make sure to open the Python IDL that's what we're going to be working with. Once I have the Python I'll open I go to options. click Configure idle Go to the General tab. I select Open the Edit window and then apply that. And I need to close out Python and reopen it. Now the cool part with these hands on videos is that if you miss something, you know you can always rewind and check it out again.
So then once I reopen it, you see it has just a little bit different window in here. All right, that's all there is to it. Now we're ready to get started.
