Introductions

  • Introduce and explain the role of the Coach and Referee.
  • Share a fun fact about each.
  • Lead players to follow your lead and introduce themselves by sharing a fun fact.
  • Explain the goal of the program is to create friendships through learning a foreign language.
  • Remind them to wear comfortable clothes and wear sneakers in case they have ample space to go all out in class one day.

Map out for them what future classes will look like.

  • When they arrive, there will be free time to interact with other players for the first few minutes of class.
  • Provide games they can play with a peer, like tic tac toe, hangman, and dot and box games to start building friendships and a competitive spirit.
  • They can also spend this time reviewing vocabulary for the week with other players.
  • Before they leave, ensure everyone knows which lessons they will need to learn at home for the week.

Some lessons are short and can be combined with the following lesson. Players must completely watch a video before the platform allows them to move on to the next. The course is meant to be sequential, with each lesson building upon itself. If a player is absent, be sure to text them the information.

Players can watch the videos on a cell phone or laptop and complete the worksheets in their notebooks. Printing is not necessary.

Players should bring written assignments to class each week and be prepared to share the answer to the weekly challenge.
