Welcome to pillar two Bath and Body rituals. Before we kick off on recommendations for Bath and Body rituals, I'd like to start off with some reflection on how many products and chemicals we're exposed to every day and our Bath and Body ritual currently. And here are some stats. One of every 13 women are exposed to ingredients that are known or probable human carcinogens every day and this is through our Bath and Body products. One of every 24 women are exposed to known or probable reproductive and developmental toxin slinked impaired fertility and developmental harm for the baby in the womb every day. One in every five adults are potentially exposed air Every Day to all of the seven top carcinogen impurities common to personal care products.
So some of the chemicals that we're particularly concerned about in our Bath and Body products include the following. parabens, which are estrogen mimicking fragrances, and this is often a way for companies to hide ingredients. They can cause allergies, dermatitis, potential effects on reproductive systems, synthetic colors that are derived from petroleum and coal tar. Those are carcinogenic and linked to ADHD in children. Families, which are endocrine disruptors and linked to breast cancer. Try clo Sam Which is often the active ingredient in antibacterial soaps are endocrine disruptors, especially for the thyroid and reproductive hormones.
And there's more sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate. These combined with other chemicals to become nitros amines, a carcinogen a known carcinogen. formaldehyde is carcinogenic. Tallinn is an immune system toxin. propylene glycol is a skin irritant, and certain sunscreen chemicals are endocrine disruptors and some are even carcinogenic. Now, the good news is that you don't have to read through air Every single ingredient in all of your products, you can look up your bath and body care products to see how they rate for overall toxicity on the Environmental Working Groups skin deep database at ew g.org.
Now, if your products aren't located on this website, you can look up the individual ingredients or you could refer to the list that's included. I've also included a copy of this list in your checklist. There are so many non toxic alternatives though and you could still look beautiful and be toxin free. One is to make your own and keep it simple. I love this because it's a way to also personalize your personal care products. So for instance, instead of a lotion, you can try argan oil, coconut oil or sweet Almond oil and add your own essential oils to make it smell just perfect for you.
For face moisturizer I like argan oil or prickly pear oil as a base with a dropper to have anti inflammatory essential oils like lavender or Frankincense. For toothpastes, baking soda works wonders. And you can have it alone or with peppermint oil and coconut oil mixed in to make it kind of a paste. Import deodorant. You could consider using baking soda mixed with a little coconut oil to help make it stick. for dental care mercury amalgams are a neurotoxin and you're exposed to the mercury vapor every time you eat and brush your teeth.
So it's highly recommended to have these four Moved by a biological dentist. And it's important to use a biological dentist because they have training to help ensure that your exposure during the removal process of mercury is as low as possible, very important. Next, use fluoride free toothpaste or make your own with baking soda. Remember, fluoride is an endocrine disruptor and you want to brush at least two to three times a day. Use a tongue scraper first thing in the morning is well. This is really important, especially as it pertains to detoxing from overnight.
Remember, I had mentioned in Module One, that our brain has its own detox system, the glymphatic system, and some of those toxins come out overnight through our tonsils, tunsil areas. So a lot of people This is in our mouths. So by scraping our tongue in the morning, we're taking out some of those toxins that have drained out through our detox process at night. And then floss like your body depends on it at least twice a day. It's so important and I know your dentist has told you that. And I'm telling you that too.
Well, what about hair dyes? Let's check out those. hair dyes can include a number of skin iron, lung irritants, they can cause allergies, chemical burns, and some of them are carcinogenic. I've listed some of the top problematic chemicals in hair dyes here and I won't read through them. But I will bring up a few options that are non toxic or less toxic hair dyes that you might want to try One is henna. henna is only for darker hair, but it's available world wide, which is great hair print is another brand hair print makes hair dyes for light brown to black hair only at the moment.
And then there's Madison Reed with over 45 shades. Both hair print and medicine read are available online. And I've also included links in the references section of the checklist. Other techniques to add to your bath routine. dry brushing before showering helps to flush out our lymphatic system. lymphatic face and neck massage in the morning, while your moisturizing will help drain toxins as well.
Soaking in a bath with Epsom salts and adding them a sauna, infrared is really great if you have access to an infrared sauna. Otherwise, a dry sauna or a wet Sano would be just fine as well. And that really helps our body detox. It also can help us sleep a bit better. leave you with this because of your smile, you make life more beautiful. You don't need toxins in your bath and body care products to make you beautiful.
And you certainly don't need them in your food to make you feel beautiful. So Congratulations on finishing up module two. Next, download the nourish your body checklist and references. And next step we have module three home. I'll see you there
