Hi everybody and welcome to the first lesson about Inkscape. So Inkscape is vector design software. So, we are going to work in a really different way if you are used to software like Photoshop or photo paint or gene and I used to say to my students when we started working with Inkscape that you have to think that you are working with shapes of paper that you put together like like a with the old technique of collage. Okay, so, the first thing the first time you open Inkscape you should have already have a file open. Take the Zoom tool and just zoom out to see To see your sheeter which should be besides a need for and as you can see, we have space outside etc. So, in Inkscape, you can work outside your sheet of paper, just like when you work with collage that you can move your shapes where you wish.
And now, let's zoom in. And the first thing that we have to learn is how to move our shapes. So just start creating some, some objects or shapes. In this case we pick we are going to pick this tool, the creator Rectangles and Squares tool. And if you click and shinato do if you click and go on with your mouse and then you release Then you you can create a rectangle. So I click I don't leave the bottom and then I leave it.
Okay, can you understand just try and create the menu manaphy. Now, another thing to say these are rectangles with different sizes of course, you wish to create a square. Okay, if you wish to create a square, when you use this tool, you will have to click the Ctrl key on your keyboard. So ctrl key, and in this way you create squares. Okay, this is a square. Now, I created many shapes or objects, we should call them objects.
They are objects Now, click here, we are going to use very much this tool, this tool, this black arrow, you always the big eater when you wish to move your objects. So in this case, this square is a selected and I can move it, do you wish to move this rectangle, just click on it and then you can move it. These one I can move these one and so on. Okay, now can you see that the first rectangle that we made is under the order the other ones and the last one is above all the others but of course if you wish you can change the order. And these are the these are the tools that you can use to move up all these the shapes that you create. Above or under.
Okay, so to understand better this team I'm going to change the colors to mark tangles and just picking here a color, these one is red, this one will be orange, this one will be yellow. Always with the URL tool, I just select my object and then I change the color. So in the second lesson we are going to understand better how to change colors. But now just change the color in this way in these fast way. Just to understand how we can move our objects for example, this little square and we sheet to be above all the others. Then can you see these four these four bottom, bottom bottoms.
Then click here with this button you can move it burger the orders can you see this is above all the orders these one I wish these one to be just to be under all the orders then I pick a click here and this is now under all the orders can you see But of course, you could say I wish the orange one to be just above the red one but not above the deleter Square. In this case you have to use this one this bottom is way sorry for my pronouns okay. And of course I could say I wish DSP square to be under the yellow one, but above the purple one. So I say I use these one. So these two buttons are, go under just under one shape or go above one shape and just the one shape a bow. And these two are above all the objects and under sorry under old objects and double, or the objects.
And for this first lesson, it's all just please with your rectangles and and learn to be confident with these tools.
