Not to sound disrespectful to the newly departed but what I've noticed is how peaceful they look. They even look younger. This just tells you how aging stress and tension can be. The problem is, life is stressful. For most people, there's an undercurrent of worry running like a ticker tape and the brains back office. So what steps can we take to chill out and at the same time, keep our youthful glow.
The first step is to notice when you're bracing, in other words, clenching your jaw, raising your shoulders and taking shallow breaths. Of course, it's normal to brace when you're feeling through are having negative thoughts and negative thoughts come out of the blue. It's not like you invite them in. One remedy is to purposely relax your jaw and your shoulders. That alone calms your physiology, then smile. It's a simple gesture, but researchers noted that the simple act of smiling can boost your mood.
So notice what your body's doing. Then take charge, you'll feel better and with any luck, look better too. Have I not commanded you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened. Do not be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you, wherever you go.
