In the last video, I talked about non reactivity. One of the best ways to develop non reactivity is through the practice of meditation. So why meditation? meditation is a direct link to serenity. Research has shown that a region of the brain linked to our emotions actually grows more dense as a result of stress. However, meditators showed decreased activity in this area.
So this alone is a reason to meditate. Every person is bombarded by negative thoughts which pop uninvited into your brain at regular intervals. Both during the day, and these negative thoughts can sabotage your level of self esteem, to the point where it can seem like an uphill battle to remain positive. Well, let's face it, we live in a stressful world, we need tools to combat the chaos of the daily grind. And meditation is such a tool. In a world where your routine demands decision making logic and the utilization of your left brain, using meditation to activate your right brain just makes a lot of sense.
The practice brings your brain back into balance. When you balance your checkbook, you're in your left brain. Visualize a day the beach, you're in your right brain. One isn't better than the other. We need both to exist, but there needs to be balanced. So find a quiet spot.
Close your eyes focus focus on your breathing and enjoy the peace. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed you are called in one body and be thankful. Colossians chapter three, verse 15.
