Hi, I'm Mark milotic. And I'm going to be your guide on our adventure with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. And we're going to work with Lightroom, six, and Lightroom, cc Lightroom, six or Lightroom CC, depending whether you're on Creative Cloud or not. And I'm going to guide you from the beginning from the basics for all the complexities of using Lightroom. Working with catalogs as well. And just to make it easier for you, I'm going to especially focus a little bit more on catalog management and working with one catalog or working with multiple catalogs, because that's where people often ask questions about it.
So we're going to do first is first we're going to launch Lightroom. And we're going to have a look at some of the preferences. So I'm on Lightroom cc on Cloud. If your Lightroom six, that's fine. Or even if your Lightroom five will be okay I'm going to point to any new features in Lightroom six, cc or cc So first of all, when you launch Lightroom Lightroom is going to create a catalog for you. So in the top left corner of the interface, you're going to see catalog in here.
And then something like all photographs, zero and quick collections zero and previous input 01 of the things to understand about Lightroom catalogs is that Lightroom catalog is more like a reference to your images. Lightroom catalog is just connecting to your images. And it gives you information about all the changes you make to images as well. You can keep your catalog anywhere you want. And I'm going to talk a little bit more about in just a minute. When by default, initially when you create Lightroom catalog, or when you launch Lightroom.
Let's say let's put it this way, when you launch Lightroom Lightroom is going to create a catalog in your pictures folder or photos folder. Okay, but if you're not sure what if you have no idea what it is I'm going to show you how to find it in just a moment. Okay, so first of all, we're going to have a look at some preferences here. Lightroom most of them but not all of them, and then we'll have a look at settings for catalog. And then we'll start importing images and we'll start working the images. Okay.
So we're going to use the default settings for now, just to keep things simple, but then I'm going to show you how to manage catalogs how to move them around, and options that you can use to keep catalogs in different locations. Okay, so let's have a look at Lightroom preferences in the next video.
