Okay, so we flagged some images for rejection, for deletion. So now we're going to tidy up our library of images, we're going to remove these two images, we'll rename some images and now we'll move on to exploring more features in the library module. So as we're going to do now, we're just going to quickly use well we can do here is if you don't have a lot of images, you could just select these two or as many images as you Magnus rejected, and then we're going to delete them. Or what you can do is we'll go this library filter on top in here and go to text, you could attribute metadata and none so for example, we're going to explore the library filter is soon but for now if you go to attribute here you go to flags, so you can click on the rejected flag icon electrical on the show you the images that have been rejected.
And what do you do next is select the images you've got flagged as rejected. And you press the Delete key on the keyboard unless you want ask you what do you want to do? Okay, do you want to delete them from harddrive from disk? Or do you just want to remove them from Lightroom Lightroom? Does it get a choice, you can just remove these images from Lightroom catalog so they still on your hard drive, but they don't exist in the Lightroom catalog, we can actually permanently delete them from your hard drive. You get a choice, what do you want to do?
Okay, for now, let's just remove them from Lightroom catalog because we're going to explore some more advanced features where you can bring back the images or you can synchronize folders as well. So for now is going to remove them from Lightroom library. So I'm going to click Remove, and they're gone from here. Now we only have four, I only have 14 images in Lightroom in Lightroom, in the light library in Lightroom. And previous import shows 14 as well because I've deleted two of them. Okay, now we'll click on the same icon to remove the flag or click on none library filter, because we're going to talk about library filter a lot more in a separate video.
And now that we have the images we want, we're going to rename them, because I mentioned earlier that you could rename files when you import them into Lightroom. Or you can rename them later on here in Lightroom. So we're going to do is we'll select all the images, you can just press Ctrl A on Windows, Command A on a Mac, or you can go to Edit menu, and then select all in here as well. Okay, and then make sure you got the same number for photos and selected and then just press f2 on a keyboard, which will bring the Rename dialog box. For renaming. You can choose Edit and can customize how you want to rename the files.
Because preset drop down menu here, so what I usually do is I have custom text in here. Okay, and I use a sequence which you can add or insert from here. So you So, if I click on the sequence here, and if I just delete it, just delete kind of keyboard. I'll choose the sequence and date and so choose the sequence. So I'll have the images with the name and then 12345, and so on. When you have your sequence, decide how many numbers you need, how many digits you need.
If you have less than hundred images, you can use fine with 01 if you have more than 100 images, but less than 1000 001 Okay, so in this case, I'm using 01. And a peasant automatically Oh, if it doesn't just click Insert button, sequence 01. Another thing you may have noticed different from your screen most probably is this underscore here instead of a dash. I've just typed it. So just highlight it, type underscore or dash, you get underscore by default. I'm sorry, you get dash by default, but I prefer underscores.
So the filenames will look like that. Okay, and it will click Then you can choose the name. So say this could be my images and start number number one. So have my images 01 my image zero to my images that are free and so on. I will click OK. And this did progress by will quickly disappear Lightroom has renamed the files. So if we just deselect them, you can use edit, select None or Ctrl D or Command D. This is my images 01 dot RTF.
This one is my images 08 dot RTF. And then the last one is my image zero and my image is 14 dot dng. This one is the DNG file and this one here is the DNG file as well. This one's in our array of file. So let's I can quickly and easily have Lightroom rename the files for you and the number of files and a number of images you have selected. Okay.
The Okay, so we're ready to go. We're ready to start exploring the library module in more detail.
