Okay, multiplication and division of negative numbers right here. Okay, again, we have rules. So the first rule is when multiplying or dividing two numbers. If only one number is negative, the answer is negative. All right, so let's look at the example here. Six times a minus three, only one number is negative.

Six times three is 18. One number is negative, so it's a minus 18. Let's look at the next one. Three times a minus six. One number is negative in this example, a minus six. Three times six is 18.

Only one non GM numbers now If I get a minus 818, I'm sorry, a minus 18. On this example here, minus six divided by three, one number is negative six divided by three is two. Again, one number is negative minus six, the answer is a minus two, the one below six divided by A minus three, still two, but one number is negative, the minus three again, my answer is still minus two. Let's look at the second rule. When both numbers in a multiplication or division are the same, the answer is positive. So a minus six times a minus three.

I have both sides are the same, so the answer is positive. The answer is 18. And I have a positive number again, because the two signs are the same. Let's look at this one here minus six divided by A minus two. Both numbers are the same, both numbers are negative minus six divided by minus two equals a positive three. six divided by two is three.

Again, both signs are the same. So it's a positive three. Okay, when we are multiplying negative numbers here, let's look at the first step. Rule. Right there, when an odd number of negative values are multiplied, the answer is negative. So if you look at this example here, I have an odd number, how many negative signs Do I have 123, which makes them negative values as our rule states.

So, you know, what I did was four times a minus three minus four times a minus three is a plus 12 times a minus two is a minus 24. But again, I have a negative. I'm sorry, I have an odd number of negative values. 123 right there. All right. When I have an even number of negative values of multiplied, the answer is positive.

Okay? So let's, let's look at these examples here. Four times a minus three, I've got one negative value. That means it is odd. Four times three is 12. an odd number of negative values, the answer is negative. Okay, let's look at this one here, minus four times a minus three, I have an even number of negative values to the answer is going to be positive four times minus four times a minus three equals a positive 12.

Fine, let's go over here. All right, we've got three numbers, three times three times a minus three. Again, right there, I have one negative value, it's odd, my answer is going to be negative three times three is nine, times a minus three is a minus 27. Last one minus two times a minus two times a minus two. I have an even number, I'm sorry, I have an odd number of negative values, my answer is going to be negative. Two times two is four times two is eight.

But I have an odd number of negative values. So my answer is a minus eight, which I show you there. Just follow The rules you won't get in trouble. Okay, let's stop here, go to the next slide. Okay, and this slide here, I just kind of wrapped it up and gave you a graphical illustration. So for instance, when I'm multiplying here what what I'm trying to show is, if I have a minus, and a plus the answer is negative.

And it doesn't matter where the number negative number is. Same thing here with division minus and plus, if I have one negative value in there, and it doesn't matter where it is, it's going to be the answer is going to be minus. But if I have two negatives, the answer is plus in both division, and multiplication. So that's what I'm just trying to show. Are you there just to give you a quick reference a synopsis. Okay, here are some little exercises for you to do.

Take the time do the exercises, hit the pause button. And when you want to see the answers, just hit the continue button and you'll see them. Okay, here are the answers, minus five times 52 is a minus 260 minus 12 times a minus 12 is 144. A minus one times 10 is a minus 10 minus 10 times a minus four plus times a plus three is 120. A negative 120 10 times a minus 10 times a plus 10 is minus 1008 divided by A minus four is a minus two, a minus eight divided by by four is a minus to a minus 12 divided by A minus six is positive to a minus 14 divided by a positive seven is a minus two, and a minus plus eight divided by four is two. So there you go.

I probably put some more examples up on the website, there is some resource. There's a resource tab there and I know I've given you a couple more, pull them down, do them on the next slide, you'll see a help number, or you can always contact me through this platform and I'll I'll help you. Alright. Take care. See on the next section.
