So in this video, I'm going to show you how I use a text expander to save me a lot of time every day. The one I use is called phrase Express. If I go down to my icon tray, you'll see it here. If I right click on it, I can choose Edit phrases and this window pops up. Keep in mind, I never normally work in this window, except for adding new phrases, but I want to show you how it works. So how it works is you see I have a series of folders here.
So this folders where I might keep URLs, I might want to automatically insert into documents. This one is where I have a variety of different sales letters that I would send out. And this one is when I'm applying for freelance projects. Now you can have ones for quotes you can assemble whole sales proposals using this system. It really is fantastic and it just sits in your icon tray most times you never ever never ever see it So let's say I'm going to write an email. And I want to put something in here and I say, Thanks for your question.
You can find out more about my coaching here. Now I want to insert my coaching URL. Now normally, what I'd have to do is go to my website, find the URL, copy it, and then paste it. But instead, I'm just going to type this phrase you coach. And it automatically puts in a link to my coaching URL. If I also want to add a phrase to my online school.
All right type you school. Now remember, I've chosen the shortcuts, you can use whatever you want. So you can actually have anything that might work. I try to use them all the same way. So I might remember. Let's say instead, this particular person, I wanted to I work with them on a coaching basis, I'm applying in a freelance site.
So I might put in my freelance proposal free coach. So fra short for freelance for me, and it throws in my entire proposal, along with information, I'll do a free 20 minutes with them, here's what my clients say about me, etc. And you can see that it's also got a bunch of, you know, testimonials and things. If I didn't have a signature line, I can also insert a signature line just by typing c t, which for me stands for Captain time SIG, and then automatically drops in a line link phone numbers, etc. So you can see how fast and how easy it is to create any of this on the fly. If I go back to the Edit phrases, you see when I put in a phrase, this is my signature, you just type it in here or copy and paste it in here to create it.
Give it a name, say where you want to put it. And then down here is where you choose the auto text like the shortcut you might want Do for it. You can also use a hotkey if you want. I tend not to be using hotkeys. It was something you're using all the time, you might want to do that. Oh, another cool feature that I hadn't shown you yet is the benefit of being able to do currency symbols.
So let's go the cost of the project would be Oh, let's let's make it big. I think I want to go on a good vacation this year. Yeah, let's say it's going to be a million and let's say oh, I want it to be pounds. Well, instead of trying to remember what is the shortcut key for pounds, I've just set it up colon pound, and colon is just whenever I want a symbol or something. And you see it puts in pound if I want. Colon euro, I go like that.
Trademark. Think it's it's trade. Nope. Can't remember that we'll have to look later. But anyways, you can see how easy it is to do this at once you set up a system in order to be able to set all these. So this is how I use phrase Express.
This saves me hours every day and sending out sales letters, singing, sending out proposals. It allows me to very quickly create these on the fly. The one I use, as I said is called phrase Express. It is a free tool that you can use for Windows based if you're looking for a Macintosh version, they have a version that's actually called text expander but it is a paid one.
