Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the dashboard Course In this video, we will learn how to name this dynamic data and how to use that naming for our benefit. So let's see. to name the data. The first thing we require is the voluntary tab. If the cursor is outside of the data, it's difficult for us to do so the first thing is the cursor should be inside the data, it's not necessary to click anywhere specific.
Just keep the cursor in anywhere in one of the cells. And once done, the voluntary tab, table tool design will appear and just click on that. And to the left. Under properties, there's a small text area where we can add the name for the table. By default, it will give the table and the sequence as the table name. Since this is the first table we created, it's named table one.
If we had done the same for the fourth or fifth time, the number would increase accordingly. to name it simply Like the name box delete, then provide the name in the Name box. And just put in a new name, do remember spaces are not allowed. So if you wish to have a gap between two names, just put in an underscore, and that will be sufficient. In our example, we'll be naming our table master data. To do so just keep the cursor in the text area.
Remove the name and just put in master data. Now to confirm the name, we have to press enter. That is the only way to confirm and finalize the name. Now that we've named this master data, let's see some usage and implementation of this. Now if you're in another sheet, which is maybe a summary sheet, or say, am I is sheet and we wish to look in for the total salary amount paid out To do so the normal method that we go with is equals to some, we go to the first sheet, we select the entire column, we close the bracket enter exactly the right tool. But this is a lengthy process, we currently only have two sheets.
But what if we have an infinite number of sheets, then it becomes a difficult task. Now to do the same thing in the fastest and easiest way possible, we are going to use the help of the table that is a dynamic data. To do so the formula will remain the same. That is some. But this time, I'm not going to go to that particular sheet and fetch the data rather, the data will come to me. First, which is the data or rather From where are we planning to pull the data?
It's master data. So I'll just put in the name. Once I start typing master automatically a list appears, which provides a table icon with Master Data written on it. And once I press Done, the table is automatically captured. And once we convert our data into a table it is automatically recognized by this particular workbook across the sheets. Now the table has been captured.
Now using the box bracket that is open box bracket, a list is provided that contains all the headings in that master table, just find the heading we require and just have to select it. press the Tab key to finalize close the box bracket and that will in turn, let Excel know that I'm looking to get the total from the master data for the field salary in US dollars. Once done, close the bracket, enter and there it is I get the same answer. But this time it's easy and with dynamic data, it not as compared to the early example. No, it's never Fascinating. So that's the benefit of a converting data set into a table.
And that's how we can name our dynamic data into something meaningful, which we can use across the sheets. In the next video, we will see how to create our first pivot table for our dashboard. Till then keep practicing. See you in the next video. Thank you
