So awareness exercise then for the shoulder I talked before about so many of us kind of raise a shoulder myself, you can say if I'm straight here, that my right shoulder tends to raise up. The reason why this is important is because you can do all the Great Neck stuff. But if you're tensing all the tissue, I'll show you in the drawing here. If you're tensing all this tissue that's leading up into the head and neck, you're still going to generate some kind of tension or discomfort there. So it's important that you start to address this other end of the tension pattern. So the previous exercises we've been looking at releasing a lot of tension in through the neck, here in through the back and through the side of the neck.
But notice how the muscle tissue is actually connecting from from two points. So let's say Get my red pen out, let's say this is point A. And then as the tissue comes down, we've got these other points, kind of points be in through here, or it's easier on this tissue to really see how that's connecting up in the head there. So we're kind of getting the other end of the spectrum working with this tissue. So the awareness exercise is designed to heighten your awareness. Before we talked about kind of neuro adaptation, we lose sensitivity to certain areas of the body, you might be fine.
And you might not be doing this at all. It's important that you can cue yourself in on a daily basis to get an understanding of what you're doing when you're doing it could be when you're stressed. It could be that you kind of lean on one side at your computer desk, and that tenses insurance up here. Maybe you're a reader, and you'd like reading on the couch and you're collapsing through here, which by itself is fine. But if you're doing an hour a day, five days a week for a couple of years, it's going to soon start to show in this tissue. More often than not, I noticed that it's connected with a symbol Nervous System it's a fight or flight response for trying to protect the body and which so many of us are stuck.
The differences before you would be out fighting a lion, and now you're fighting your email or a software glitch, which most of us have worked with computers know that that can be an endless joyless task. So looking at how do we start to release this tissue is a very important component as far as looking for when your shoulder is raised.
