Okay, so let's talk about paid traffic sources is probably one of the most important modules in email marketing, because this is the fastest way to just build a list really quickly. Okay, it does cost money up front, but it is the quickest way to do it. So there's two different types of paid traffic, okay? There's basically pay per click, where you pay every time someone clicks on your ad. And then there's cost per thousand, okay? Or CPM is cost per thousand views.
Okay, so, basically, and pay per click. Some common sites that do this are Google being Facebook, they all have pay per click advertising platforms. And then Google, Bing and Facebook also have cost per thousand platforms. Okay, then there's others, such as that PPV, which is basically pay per view, and media buys, okay, so media buys are really cool because media buys are where you actually go on to websites that are just big websites like weather.com and you can advertise on those sights, you buy media, the only way to do media buys is with cost per thousand. So we're gonna talk about the two different ways to do it, and how to get into all this and what's the best strategy for when you're just getting started. So let's talk about PPC versus CPM cost per thousand.
M stands for thousands the Roman numeral 4000. Okay? Some people get that confused with million, but it's not 1000. So, let's say in a pay per click campaign, you have 1000 views. Okay, and let's say that you're paying 50 cents per click, you know, 50 cents, let's say you're paying 50 cents per click. So if you had four clicks, it would cost you a total of $2.
Okay, so it doesn't really matter how many views you have. Just, it's just the clicks. 50 cents for clicks. $2 flat rate. So in a cost per thousand situation, let's say that you have 1000 views and let's say that you get from clicks, okay, but if you're paying $1 50 cost per thousand, it would only cost $1 50. So as you can see here, it can actually be cheaper to do cost per thousand.
Okay? So, the reason this is is because let's look at let's look at it this way, okay, you've got your ad, which is money out, okay? that sends people to your opt in, that sends people to list and then that sends people to your emails, which sends people to promos, okay? where they can buy and that's money back in. So the trick is really to optimize the initial ad to get more conversions. So the first ad the money out the real trick is to just get more and more conversions.
Okay, so you want to get more clicks. So, what I recommend you do is start with PPC figure out how many clicks you Get, and then optimize your ad to get a higher click through rate. Okay? Once you do that, once you get your click through rate as high as possible, then you can run the ad in the CPM format, and try to decrease your bid to save money. Okay, so when you go into these networks, you actually make a bid for how much you want to spend. Okay, and typically the highest bid is what ads get shown and whatnot.
But if you've got a really killer ad that's converting, then you can go in and bid a little bit lower and get your ads shown and make a lot of money. And the reason this works is because Google being Facebook, they all want guaranteed money. So you can get away with paying less for cost per thousand, than you do per total clicks. Okay, so you can actually go in and bid less because you know, you've got a winner ad. So once you've optimized your ad, this becomes really, really profitable. And then after this, you can move on to media buying on sites that don't even offer PPC So once again, what we're going to do is we're going to optimize our PPC, okay, we're going to go in, we're going to, we're going to just do the pay per click, get as many clicks as we can.
And then once we've optimized our ad, then move into the CPM network, okay, then go for cost per thousand, you can usually do this on being Facebook, they offer both, okay, so you can actually just do it right there on the same ad platform. Then after we're done, we're going to go in and we're going to move on to media buying. That's where a lot of the money's made. They don't even offer PPC, you can just kill it with media buying if you know you're doing if you've already got a winner ad that you've already found through PPC and CPM, then move on to media buying, and then you're golden. Okay, so that's kind of an insider secret for paid traffic. In the next module, we're going to talk about sending your emails we're gonna talk about subject lines and conversions.
And while that's really important, so we'll see in the next module
