Hi, my name is Greg Kong and if you want to learn how to do something similar on your Instagram 360 photo with some music turning around like this, then stick around. I'm coming up with a 360 video course very soon so check out the link over here if you're interested she chaos productions.com forward slash learn 360 video. OK, let's get started. In this video we're going to learn the production side of things. How did we take this photo and write down to the post production? How did we get this effect?
How did we get it on to Instagram and make This happened. So the camera I use is the Samsung 2017 360 camera. This is the new Samsung camera but I can imagine you can do this with other 360 cameras. Some tips to pull the shot off are to do it in good lighting. I did this just before sunset, and I used a mini tripod just to give some extra reach and stability. And another tip is to put the timer on to give yourself some time just to set up the camera and to frame the shot.
So I set it to five seconds. You can do this easily in the settings of the camera and the menu lets you see it so it doesn't take too long to do. And then I just held it in front over there and that takes care of the photo. So over onto post production. Now, if you haven't already, check out my other lesson on how to find and install the gear 360 software. What we're going to do is import a photo the 360 photo that we took.
So I've already done that. And after you do that, you will see this photo in your library. And you should get to a screen like this. By the way, if you're loading the software for the first time, I'm using the gear 360 view or player not the broadcast function. Alright, so over here we have some options. You may not see this view right away you may see the 360 view which is completely different Alright, so how did we get that other view?
So we chose the round view. Like creates a nice, nice effect there looks like you're in some other universe there. So you can play around with the different views over here. And specifically, how did I get that look? Well, I zoomed out a bit. And then you've got this play button here.
So this will turn it around. So I encourage you to experiment with the different views over here. And some additional controls to zoom in, zoom out. And another tip is, you probably want to capture the photo or the video. How do you do that? Well There is this camera icon here to capture the image.
But this will capture a low resolution image. Not really ideal for showing off the highest resolution photo. So what I recommend is to just use the screen capture. If you're using a Mac, you can use Command Shift four, and then just frame it around and you can take a screen photo, but that's not what I did for the Instagram. I was actually capturing a screen recording, which you can pull off by using the QuickTime QuickTime Player gives you the ability to do free screen recordings. Alright, and so what I did is I did a screen recording of this playing so it was playing.
And then I was just screen recording this while I was playing So that is a totally different perspective. Okay, next step is to take that screen recording, and then we're going to want to make some minor edits, just to prepare it for Instagram. So let's hop over to Final Cut Pro X, you can use any video editor to do this. And here's the video file. So I've just overlaid it with some text and some music. So overall, this takes a little bit more work then your usual posts, but the end result is something that's going to stand out amongst a busy Instagram social media world.
This is the finished video file. And now we want to get it over to Instagram but because Instagram is a mobile app, you have to find some way to get it on your mobile device. If you have a Mac, you can use the airdrop. So airdrop is a very cool wireless way of sharing to another Mac device. Right click share and then select airdrop. And then you can go to your other mobile Mac device and just turn on airdrop, it'll send this wirelessly.
If you have an Android device, maybe you could copy the file over using the SD card or a USB cable, not as sexy as airdrop. But the end result is you're going to have this finished video file with text 360 video and music. And you can just simply go over to Instagram and then just share it as a regular post. But you will have all the other things that you've added in the video editor that will make it stand out. So here's the finished video file. It's got the text overlaid on it, and I've added some music.
So just to recap, what we've done here, we've done a lot of stuff to get this Instagram post. So in the field on the production side, I've used a tripod, you can use a selfie stick just to give you a bit more reach, I turned on the timer on the photo just to give more time to frame the shot. After that, we then took the footage over to the computer, I use the 360 software called gear 360 and experimented with the different views. Each view may give you different options for example, zooming in, zooming out, and then turning on this merry go round player and then a little hack using screen recording software. Were to capture this merry go round player. And then we took the finish file, we put it in the video editor to put on some of the final touches, like texts and music.
And then we exported it. took that finish video file over to your mobile device to share it through Instagram. Hope you enjoyed this video.
