Triplets are commonly used in all styles of music. Every drum student should be familiar with counting triplet notation and how to apply the triplets in music. The name triplet implies a grouping of three notes (or rests) desiginated by the number 3 placed above or below the notes. Often there is a bracket with the number 3 which indicates what notes are to be performed as triplets.
Triplets are a type of poly-rhythm which means they are an artificial grouping of notes. The term poly-rhythm is necessary when the rhythmic value of the notes does not add up mathematically.
In this course, students will learn the proper counting of triplets and how to perform them. Also in this course, the double paradiddle is introduced in triplet form which creates some really cool rhythmic combinations. Students will have fun learning these commonly used triplet fills.
You should progress through previous ultimate drumming courses before advancing to this course.
