Welcome back everyone and in continuing our discussion on actor essentials, this video is going to focus on how to rotate actors. And once again I'm going to be bringing in a chair mesh to help with this discussion. And once I do, you can see that when I drop them off right here I am in movement mode is denoted by our three arrow widget. Now, there are three ways to get into rotation mode. The first is to use your spacebar. Tap at once will move you into rotate mode, tap it again again is scaling mode.
This is movement mode. here once again we are back in rotational mode. Now if you are in any of the other non rotational modes such as the scale mode right here, you can jump yourself immediately to rotational mode by simply tapping the E E as an egg key undertaking board that'll jump you straight to it. Alternatively, if you're in one of the other move modes and want to jump directly to rotational mode, you can click on this icon right up here to jump yourself into rotational mode as well. Once you are in rotational mode, you can rotate an object in one of three directions, you've got your x direction here, that is the red direction, the green direction, which is your y direction, and then the z direction, which is this blue arc right here. That is not the only way to rotate an object by simply grabbing on to one of these handles.
You can punch in some values over here in the Details panel as well. So with my chair selected here, if I were to select the rotation Z value and let's move it say 45 degrees and hit enter. Once I do You can see that it has pivoted 45 degrees around the z axis. Once again just as in movement mode you have snap settings associated with the selected apt actor for rotation. Right here you can see that I have rotational snap settings on and I know it's on because it is currently in orange. If I click this and it is not in orange, then when I go to rotate my object, it moves in very, very, very tiny increments.
I'm going to turn that back on over to the right here you can see that you can set in which degree increments it will snap to right now it's set to five degrees. So every five degrees goes from 10 degrees 1520 etc. You can change that to be say 90 degrees and now when you turn it, it is going to move in 90 degree increments. One more thing to know about these snap settings is is true of all the snap settings. You can change these in whichever your active window is. Currently I've got my perspective, viewport and large share.
If you are within this four pane view your perspective and orthographic views, whichever window you have selected is where you can change your snap settings. Anyways, that is going to do it all for this video on how to rotate actors. We will see you guys in the next one
