Okay, welcome back in this video, we're going to talk about buying content. So this is going to be a little bit different than the last technique, which is to actually go through a book. And you know, check it out and kind of rewrite it and do something very similar. It's very common for people to do that. But if you have a little bit of money to invest, then you can always have someone write a book for you. So we talked about going to Elance or oDesk and hiring a ghostwriter.
That's a great option. Or you can buy the rights to a book that's already written. So what you would do is go to fiction press.com. Okay, choose a category that's interesting. And then select 20,000 plus for the word count 20,000 Plus, and then use the search feature if you have a specific topic in mind. Okay, so whether you're a fiction writer, or this is for business purposes, use that search feature and type in your specific topic.
And then Pick a few books you like, and message the author. Typically, if you offer around 200 to $300, for the rights to the book, you'll usually get it. Then once you own the rights, you can do anything you want with the book, you can rewrite it, you can change the author's name, etc. Save any messages between you and the author in case you need to prove that you own the rights to the book. Okay, so this is going to be a little bit different than just standard private label rights. You can negotiate with the author, you can negotiate that you have exclusive rights to the book, okay, this is something that you want to get out.
And you don't want anybody else to be sending out the same content. Or for less of a price you can probably just buy, you know, rights to the book, but that's not going to guarantee that that author is not going to use the book or somebody else isn't going to buy the rights either. So it really is up to you and how much money you want to invest In this Another thing you can do is actually go to craigslist to find books. So pretty much what you would do is just post what you're looking for in several major cities. Just say you're looking to buy the rights to finish novel or book and that you're willing to pay around $200 that's typically the the going rate for this sort of thing. And then just have the person contact you with the following your genre, the book, the word count, a sample chapter, and a summary.
Okay, this will give you a good idea. This is a book you want to purchase. Craigslist, it's usually best to create a new email account altogether. I don't like to put my number or email on Craigslist because you usually get all sorts of replies. So if you want to use Craigslist, just create a new Gmail and have people email you there. And that way, you don't have some interesting characters emailing you indefinitely.
How long after your acquisition is Complete. So those are a few options. Okay, so So far we've, we've covered either writing your own book, okay, which you would go out and do much of research and compile a bunch of information, just based on your knowledge and based on, you know, Google and all the free information out there. You could also go through an actual book or two, and rewrite that book or hire a ghostwriter to do that for you. Or you go on Craigslist. You could try to buy a book from someone there.
You can buy the rights to books. You can buy the rights to book on fiction press. com, lots of different ways to create the content. And the next video, we're going to talk about how to actually create your cover and formatting and different strategies for doing that. So I'll see you in the next video.
