Don't debate a reporter on their questions. Don't debate them on their assumptions. Don't tell them they're stupid or the wrong or you just agree with their assumption. This just doesn't work. You are not going to win a fight with the reporter. Now, if it's a live political TV talk show or radio show people were there for the theater and everyone could hear all of it and there's no editing.
Maybe you can do some of that and it might work. But the vast majority of the time for any form of edited media interview, don't waste your time correcting the reporter telling them they're wrong, telling them they're unfair, whining, complaining, it just makes you look like a baby. And ultimately, it doesn't help you accomplish your goal. Your goal is to get the exact message you want the word for word quote, you decided in advance To the final story, that's it. Your goal is not to win debate championships. So don't quibble with reporter just listen and think of the question that's close to what the reporter said in a positive context and answer that
