Okay, you've got your messages, you've got your sound bites, you've written your speech, it is time to rehearse your press conference speech on video, I want you to do in a very specific way. give this speech, record the whole thing on video, but then have people ask you questions that you think might actually come up in the press conference. Now, if you don't have any other team members, no other staff or family or friends to help you. Ask yourself questions. I know it feels silly, ridiculous. It's going to help you to a better job for the actual press conference.
But I want you to simulate the situation in as real way as possible. So if you're going to be standing at the press conference, stand for your rehearsal, give your speech and this doesn't have to be fancy folks, you can just reach into your pocket record yourself on your cell phone if you need to, or a webcam, but you can't just talk it out. You can't look in a mirror and practice. You have to practice your press conference speech on video. You have to record it, you have to practice answering questions. on video, you have to review it, critique it, figure out what do you like?
What do you not like? And then do it again, you have to keep doing this. Until you like what you see, I need you to keep practicing on video, critiquing it, doing more of what you like less of what you don't like, until you can point to the video and say, Wow, I'm good. If I can be half as good as this person, I'll be the star of the press conference star of our industry, I will have accomplished everything I want. Now, it may take you only one quick rehearsal to do that. It may take 10 it may take 50 I don't care how long it takes.
All I care about the results. And that's really all you should care about the results. So I need you to practice your speech and answering questions. continuing until you like what you see so it's not my test. It's not some journalism professors test. It's your test.
Keep practicing until you like what you see on video. Everything we're doing here in this course this is far and away the most important that and getting your sound bites right let's do it now.
