What is your message? This seems like an easy question because you're an expert on content, you're an expert on message, you've written the whole book. But that's the problem. You've written a whole book. And the temptation authors have is to try to educate every reporter and every producer and every talk show audience, on everything and their book. And that is simply not the way to sell books.

Because quite often, someone isn't gonna buy your book unless they seen you and heard you on a couple of different or three different four different shows and read about it somewhere. If every single time they hear you, they pick up something different. It says if they're hearing you for the first time, so repetition is key. Now, it might not be interesting to you, tough. If it's just about you stay home and talk to your best friend. You've got to figure out how to put a spotlight on what's going to really draw people in to Your book, your book, even if it's a slim book is going to have hundreds of ideas, maybe thousands of ideas.

There very few guarantees in life. But here's what I will give you or your money back for this course, if you go into an interview about your book, even if it's an hour long talk radio show. If you try to convey hundreds of ideas, you will fail miserably. Remember, it's not communication, if it comes out of your mouth. It's communication if your audience hears it, understands it and remembers it so they can act upon it. So one of the hardest things you have to do as an author is to really look at your whole book and summarize it in three points, 30 seconds worth of content, you need 10 points.

10 Words or less, excuse me, three points. 10 words or less a total of 30 points. That's what you need going into your mediation Doesn't mean you'll never ever say anything beyond that. I'm not trying to turn you into a robot where you ignore questions. And I don't want you to be one of these obnoxious people who every two seconds, you know, buy my book my books available on Amazon and Hey, how's it I tell you? My book is available for 995.

Now, it's not about being that canned or phony or artificial or annoying. And dodging questions, but it's some point an awful lot of interviews. The host, the reporter is going to ask you so what's your book about? Tell us about your book. What's most important in your book, these are all opportunities for you to talk and to say anything you want. And you can't just talk for a solid hour you'll never ever be invited back on that talk show.

So you get to decide what's most important. This is the most important part of your interview. Preparation. Because you can look good sound good have soundbites, if you don't have a message. Nothing else matters. It's kind of like having a house and you got a nice plot of land and you got the best marble and the best Redwood all the best materials.

If you just start hammering things up and pushing things up, and you have no blueprint, no architectural plan, what's that house going to look like just a mishmash of garbage. And unfortunately, that's how your interview could turn out to if you don't have a clear message. So I need you to really distill your book to the most important points. What are the points that are important to you, and that are going to be important to that audience. And that will make them seek you out. Maybe not even to buy your book yet but to check out your blog to go to your YouTube channel.

To follow you on Twitter, what idea Do you have that's going to captivate people? really bring them in, you've got to give that some thought. So I'm going to give you some more basics here of what to think of screens to look at checklist when coming up with your message. But don't, don't fast forward through this process, you may think you know it. You may be too close to it. So something else you may do is send your books in the galleries to friends, colleagues, and ask them how would you summarize this book, in three sentences or less to a friend, a colleague, if you want to try to get them to buy it, ask your friends, see what they come up with.

So let's come up with our message. Now really start thinking about you don't have to write it down yet. I'm going to give you more tips, but then we'd be able to come up with a message for our book.
