When it comes to going on financial TV, financial radio, it's not just the substance of your ideas. It's also how you come across the energy you provide. Now, not everybody has to be the same. You don't have to be Jim Cramer. You don't have to be yelling and screaming and throwing chairs and becoming a maniac. But you do need some energy.
Now the biggest problem most people have, if they haven't done a lot of TV and radio is they get nervous, understandable, but when you get nervous, what happens to most people is you kind of tighten up, your body freezes and you become tense, your volume gets smaller, your energy gets smaller, the range of motion gets smaller, and you just shrink. That's what makes you seem timid, scared, nervous, uncomfortable, lacking in confidence, that doesn't work. Again, there's a whole range not everyone has to be Jim Cramer. ben stein has that sort of famous monotone, Ferris Bueller, Bueller. And he gets on CNBC and financial media outlets all the time. So you don't have to be Mr. wild and crazy.
But in general, having more energy, having passion, having some excitement to what you're talking about will help you. It'll make you be more interesting. It'll make you more attractive to producers and Booker's and it will draw attention to your ideas. So there's going to be a whole series of exercises on how to boost up the energy and how to really have you look at what you're doing and analyzing it. But please, please keep that in mind. The biggest problem especially for newbies is shrinking up.
