Are great media skills, something that our Learn Are you just born with now, not surprisingly, coming from a media trainer, I'm going to tell you what you would anticipate, which is that of course, it's not something just innate. Of course, it's not something you're born with. It is a learned skill. Most people have never been taught how to speak to the media. So it makes perfect sense that you're not good. If you had never driven a car before in your life.
You'd never seen anyone drive a car. You'd never been to driver's education. And all of a sudden, someone just hand you a car keys when let's say you're five years old, that would seem impossible to drive that car down the street, right? But if you've seen cars being driven your whole life and you go to Driver's Ed, and you see videos and you get instruction, then you drive. It's not that hard, especially if you've been doing it for a few years. You get it.
It's just second nature. Maybe you can't win a Formula One right race car, or a Indianapolis 500 race or stock car race, but you can drive kind of the same thing with media interviews, maybe you're not going to be as good as Oprah Winfrey, or the most talented anchors or host on the BBC, or Al Jazeera or CNN. But I believe anyone can develop a certain competence of looking comfortable, confident, relaxed, having messages delivering messages, answering questions authoritatively and getting the exact quotes they want. So now it's not something you're born with. It is a learned skill. unlike so many important learned skills in life.
It's not taught in schools. It's not taught in public schools, private schools, elementary schools, high schools, colleges or graduate schools, but it is taught right here.
