This tip may seem obvious, but it also may be a little surprising to you. If you want to be great at the media, you need to do it. Other people who are great in their fields do every day great golfers generally golf every day. Yeah, they may take some little vacation at the end of a tour. Great tennis players play tennis every day. great actors on Broadway are acting every single day if you want to be great in the media, great as a media communicator, great as someone who's a guest on other networks, other shows, also great on your own media, your YouTube, your Facebook, your online courses.
Do it every day. Now, am I saying you have to be a workaholic and you can never go on a single vacation and you have to abandon your family? No, of course not. But they're 365 days out of the year. How many weeks of vacation Are you going to take? To write for great, you're in Europe, six or eight, fine.
But that still leaves me more than 45 weeks, 44 weeks, I guess you're taking eight weeks vacation to be putting out content on a daily basis whether you're being interviewed, or whether you are creating your own content. And the problem I see is a lot of people try to be episodic, they spend all this time writing some book. And they don't do any media, any speaking and they don't create any videos. And then they want to spend this, you know, hurried activity time promotion, promotion promotion, trying to do as many interviews as possible in a six week window. And then it's like nothing for a year and a half before their next product comes out. It used to work that way.
It doesn't really work that way anymore. So I recommend that you speak through the media. Whether it's your own as I'm doing now, because this is my camera, or do interviews with other places daily now, perhaps you can't get other people to interview you every single day. I understand. There have been times in my life when I have been interviewed virtually every day. I don't do as much outreach to other media these days is I used to, and I am creating media every single day.
Now, yeah, well, I take a holiday off a weekend off sure. But even on the weekends, I may create a couple of training videos. It's one of these things where the more you do it, the easier it gets, it becomes second nature. You get to the point where you are just as relaxed speaking on video, as you are talking to your best friend over the beverage of your choice. So you really want to get great at this not just good but great. A part of it is share frequency and volume The more you do it and the more regularly you do it, the better you'll get it will be noticeable to everyone.
